Saif was hesitant about accepting the National Award for Hum Tum

However, despite being bestowed with such glory, Saif Ali Khan was quite hesitant to accept the award. Speaking about it, filmmaker, Kunal Kohli, in one of his earlier interviews with The Indian Express, mentioned how Saif was doubtful about flying down to Delhi from London to receive the award. Adding more, Kunal said:

“We were doing an ad film in Spain. Siddharth was handling the production for me; Saif and I were there. Post that, we went for a holiday. Saif was going to London, when it was announced that he has won the National Award. Saif is like, ‘Should I go?’ I was like, ‘Are you mad, please go!’ He said, ‘I am on a holiday in London. You think they would give me a ticket from London?’ We laughed and said they will give you a ticket from Mumbai to Delhi, not London to Delhi. Then he said, ‘Yes Ammi and Abbu are also saying that I should go.”
