Ranveer Singh is one of the most popular and loved actors in the current generation. He enjoys a massive fan following, courtesy of his energetic personality, charismatic charm and terrific acting prowess. After working in some of the most blockbuster hits, such as Padmaavat, Ramleela, Bajirao Mastani and others, he received a lot of appreciation for his latest release, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Moreover, Ranveer has also been roped in to carry forward the legacy of the Don film franchise, and he recently replaced Shah Rukh Khan from the same. Interestingly, with this decision, Ranveer failed to impress a large number of audience, and they trolled him immensely for the same. And recently, Ranveer addressed the same.
Ranveer Singh attended the Red Sea Film Festival and opened up about the negative criticism that came his way, after his upcoming film, Don 3 was announced. The actor highlighted how he understands the love that the film franchise has gotten throughout the years and added that he wishes to give it a new twist of his own. Revealing how he knew that the scepticism would come in his way, he said:
“I’m hoping to make Don my own and give it my spin, my interpretation. It is the handing over of the baton of one of the most loved and revered franchises of Hindi cinema. The significance of that is not lost on me. When the announcement was made, as expected, it came with its share of scepticism.”
In the concluding segment, Ranveer added that he wishes to do complete justice to the role, since he understands the reputation of the previous senior actors who played the role. Claiming that such a great opportunity is not lost on him, the actor said:
“Taking the baton forward in this franchise and continuing the legacy of two of our greatest superstars – the significance of that is not lost on me. So, I will give it my best shot. You will see the very best of me and I will put my best foot forward for Don undoubtedly.”
Well, the announcement that Ranveer Singh replacing Shah Rukh Khan in Don 3 also attracted a lot of criticism towards the filmmaker, Farhan Akhtar. While many speculated a feud might have taken place between the two, others called out the director for choosing such a misfit of an actor like Ranveer Singh. However, in his response, Farhan, in an interview with Variety revealed how he and Shah Rukh never really were on the same page for the plot of the film, and there were a lot of creative differences.
In one of his earlier media interactions, Ranveer Singh had mentioned how exhilarating it felt for him to be able to step into the shoes of great legends, Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, who did the films under the Don franchise earlier. For the unversed, Don 3 is set to release in 2025.
