Pak Singer, Omer Nadeem Calls Out Sonu Nigam For Not Crediting Him In KRK's 'Sun Zara' Rendition

There is no doubt that the Indian and Pakistani entertainment industries produce some of the finest music in the whole world. From Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s qawwali to Jagjit Singh’s ghazals, it is safe to say that both the countries’ songs and singers have cemented their names around the globe with their respective soulful music. However, a problem arises when one country tries to take inspiration or blatantly copies the other country’s song.

In one such recent incident, a Pakistani singer accused the renowned Indian singer, Sonu Nigam, of copying his song. For the unversed, the 50-year-old Indian singer recently lent his voice to T-Series’s song, Sun Zara, which features Kamaal Rashid Khan (KRK), Vivek Mishraa, and Mahima Gupta. The same song created quite a buzz in the media since it was announced, especially due to its cast.

KRK’s song, Sun Zara, is a copy of Pakistani singer, Omer Nadeem’s song, Aey Khuda

Actor, Kamaal Rashid Khan, aka KRK, released the song, Sun Zara, on December 2, 2023, in collaboration with the music label, T-Series. The song is sung by Sonu Nigam and composed by DJ Sheizwood, whereas KRK wrote the song. It has garnered over 2 million views on YouTube. However, a Pakistani singer, Omer Nadeem, has come forward and shared that Sun Zara is a blatant copy of his song, Aey Khuda, which was released 14 years ago. The Pakistani singer shared a long post on his Instagram account and said:

“I’ve reached a point in my life where I couldn’t care less about these things. But hey, if you’re going to do it, at least toss a little credit to the OG track. If you’re gonna pull this off, could’ve at least done it with some finesse. Huge fan of Sonu Nigam, but let’s be real, this is light years away from the real deal.”

Netizens are upset that Omar Nadeem’s OG song got copied

Netizens have reacted to Omer Nadeem’s post and have repeatedly mentioned that the Pakistani singer’s original version is way better than the recent song sung by the Indian singer, Sonu Nigam. However, netizens have also pointed out that the song is only sung by Sonu Nigam, whereas the actor, KRK, wrote it. A user wrote, "Hi @omernadeem, this song copy by KRK, not Sonu Nigam and OG is best." Another one said, 'Ayyyy, What the hell. This was my Childhood Jam. How are these people Okay with shitty lyrics and Stolen composition." Check out the other comments:

Pakistani singers have accused Indian singers of copying their songs many times

This isn’t the first time such a controversy between the two countries has come to light. There were several such instances when our neighbourhood country called out the Indian music industry for copying their music and not even giving proper credit to the original version. However, these instances occur due to the absence of rigid laws of copyright in Pakistan, which is why the country’s singers have to undergo such instances repeatedly due to the same.
