Nita Ambani is the epitome of grace and poise, and proof of this has always been seen in her every interview and public appearance. Nita Ambani and Mukesh Ambani got hitched in 1965 with the blessing of their families and started on their glorious journey of togetherness, but before this, Nita was just an ordinary girl with ordinary dreams. For the unversed, Nita was a teacher when she got married to Mukesh Ambani and even continued her teaching profession for a year and two after marriage.
Nita Ambani was handpicked by her sasurji, Dhirubhai Ambani, to be the bahu of the Ambani khandaan. And rightfully so, Nita Ambani took the Reliance industries to an all-new level of success while keeping its family integrity and cultural heritage intact.

Dhirubhai Ambani was a visionary businessman who always chose the best for his family. In a 2003 interview with BBC, Nita Ambani revealed that her sasurji himself called her to discuss her marriage with his son, Mukesh. Sharing the incident, Nita revealed that she was studying for her exams that day when the phone rang, and she picked it up; the caller introduced himself as Dhirubhai Ambani, but she put the call down, thinking it was a joke. The phone rang again, and he identified himself as Mr Ambani, but this time, Nita got a little agitated and asked the caller to stop fooling around and cut the call.
The phone rings for the third time, but Nita, thinking it is a prank, does not even bother picking up the call. Her father picked it up, and his expression changed, he then instructed Nita to talk politely to the man on the call, as he was actually Mr Dhirubhai Ambani. In Nita Ambani's words:
"I was busy studying for my exams, the phone rang, and I picked it up and the caller identified himself as Dhirubhai Ambani; I kept the phone, thinking it was a prank call. Second time the phone again rings and the caller yet again identifies himself as Dhirubhai Ambani, I got a little agitated and ask him to stop playing the prank. The third time, the phone rang, and I didn't even bother to pick it up; my father picked it up, and suddenly his posture changed, and he said, 'Nita, it's actually Dhirubhai Ambani, and can you speak politely to him.'"

In the same interview, Mukesh Ambani revealed that his father talked separately with him and Nita and convinced the duo to get married. He was the one who played the role of a matchmaker in their relationship. Mukesh Ambani added:
"He would talk independently to Nita, independently talking to me and proving to both of us that it was in our individual best interest."
