Born in 1993, Aliya studied fine art and interior design for a foundation year at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. She did her graduation with a B.Sc in Art History from Brandeis University in Boston, Massachusetts. She later went on to pursue her Masters in Architectural Interior Design at the Inchbald School of Design in London.

Though her younger brother, Ruchir Modi is named as the successor of their father’s family business, Aliya also proved her business acumen as she runs her own firm worth a million dollars. Aliya is the founder, CEO, and design consultant of a London-based interior design company named AMRM Consultants Ltd. Aliya’s company, which is reported to be worth USD 1 million, provides design consultancy. Before launching her own firm, Aliya worked for Dara Huang’s avant-garde architecture firm, Design Haus Liberty, for two years with offices in London and Hong Kong.
In May 2022, Aliya Modi got married to her long-time boyfriend, Brett Carlsen. The wedding took place in Venice, Italy. Aliya Modi has a younger sibling, Ruchir Modi, who was born in 1994, a year after Aliya’s birth. He did his schooling at the American School of Bombay and London. He went on to pursue his Bachelor’s Degree in Global Business Management from Regent’s University London. Ruchir serves as the director of cigarette maker Godfrey Phillips and other family-owned firms such as KK Modi Group and Modi Enterprise.
