Sushmita Sen's New Love Affair, Lalit Modi Was Married To Minal Modi Who Lost Her Life To Cancer

Bollywood actress and former Miss Universe, Sushmita Sen often makes headlines for her spicy love life. From dating a married man to dating Rohman Shawl, who was 15 years younger than her, Sushmita never hid the details of her relationship from her fans. Recently, in interaction with Twinkle Khanna, Sushmita accepted that she had made plenty of mistakes but never felt guilty about it.

However, Sushmita Sen is back in the news, and this time, it is for dating the IPL founder, Lalit Modi. On July 14, 2022, Lalit posted a couple of mushy pictures and announced his new beginnings with the actress. In the note, he also cleared that he has not married Sushmita, but one day they will. He wrote:

"Just back in London after a whirling global tour #maldives # sardinia with the families - not to mention my #better looking partner @sushmitasen47 - a new beginning a new life finally. Over the moon. n love does not mean marriage YET. BUT ONE THAT BY GODS GRACE WILL HAPPEN. I JUST ANNOUNCED THAT WE ARE TOGETHER "

Lalit Modi was married to Minal Modi

Lalit Modi was earlier married to Minal Modi, who had left for the heavenly abode in 2018 after a long fight with cancer. The couple had tied the knot in October 1991. The couple embraced parenthood with the arrival of their first daughter, Aaliya Modi in 1993. And a year later, the family got completed with the arrival of their son, Ruchir Modi. The couple raised their two kids in Mumbai. 

How Lalit Modi's love brewed with Minal Modi

Lalit Modi and Minal Modi's courtship had begun at home. She was ten years older than Lalit, and the Modis had not agreed to their union as Minal was not just older than their son, Lalit, but she was also a divorcee. Lalit Modi's father, KK Modi had refused to give his approval for the marriage. After a lot of threats, fights and angry outbursts, he was granted permission. On October 17, 1991, Lalit Modi and Minal Modi tied the knot in Delhi, after which they moved to Mumbai.

Lalit Modi's wife, Minal Modi had given a tough fight against cancer. She was battling the deadly disease for 17 years of life, but it recurred ten times. It was in 2014 that the deadly disease relapsed, which had taken her life. On December 10, 2018, Minal Modi had taken her last breath at the age of 64. Lalit Modi had penned a long note on Twitter for his wife, Minal. He had written:

"My love, my life, my soulmate...You are finally at peace, and I am sure you will be watching over us. I must continue as promised to you in ensuring our children are protected and nurtured and loved and I know you will always be there...But my love it will be tough. But you have taught us to be tough."

Lalit Modi often remembers his wife, Minal and pens heat melting posts for her. Last year in June, Lalit shared a video and showed how he had celebrated his wife, Minal's birthday. In the video, beautiful pictures of his wife were placed on a whimsical setup. Along with it, Lalit had written: 

"My Late Wife Minal! Today would have been my late wife  minal modi  67  Birthday. This Time i have made a clip of all our Happy moments. As that is how have started to think about her. May she continue to RIP." 

For those who don't know, Lalit Modi's elder daughter, Aliya Modi got married in May 2022 in Venice.
