Do you remember the scene in Vicky Donor where Vicky a.k.a., Ayushmann Khurrana goes to meet his girlfriend, Aashima a.k.a., Yami Gautam's family to ask her hand for marriage? How difficult it was for a non-Bengali guy to convince his Bengali girlfriend's family to accept him as their son-in-law. In the film, Vicky had also set the Bengali patriotic song by Rabindranath Tagore, Ekla Chalo Re as his incoming call ringtone to impress his would-be in-laws. We wonder if the hottest heartthrob of the television industry, Karan Singh Grover also had such preparations for his first impression on his Bengali future in-laws when he had asked for the stunning B-town diva, Bipasha Basu's hand for marriage! It has been more than four years since Bipasha Basu had added 'Singh Grover' to her name and the bond that her husband, Karan Singh Grover shares with her family is awe-inspiring. Karan has become a part of Bipasha's family as they treat him like their son and what he means to them was evident on his sister-in-law's wedding, where he had performed the rituals as her brother. The Bengali ritual, Kanakanjali of Bipasha's sister, Vijayeta Basu's wedding was performed by jiju, Karan and sharing the video, Bipasha had written, "@iamksgofficial is an adorable and super loving brother to my little @vi_basu.”
On June 30, 2020, Bipasha Basu Singh Grover's father, Hirak Basu turned a year older and due to the pandemic, his daughter and son-in-law sent him digital wishes. Bipasha posted a quirky picture with her papa and expressed how much she is missing being with her family on this special day. Thanking him for being the reason for her constant laughter and happiness, Bipasha wrote, "Happy Birthday Papa. Thank you for being the reason of constant laughter and happiness in all our lives. You are the best Husband and Father. You are the Best Boy. We all are missing our Famjams with you... playing Ludo with you (I got my killer instinct in Ludo from you), non stop chatting and above all your funny stories ... your endless stock of Santa banta jokes ... your whistling and singing...your constant funny remarks on all of us... basically missing YOU.. and ofcourse Ma too."
Bipasha Basu Singh Grover concluded her note with a wish that her 'best father ever' enjoys the day and gets pampered from her mom, "May god bless you with the best health and all the good things in abundance. Enjoy mommy’s birthday cooking for you. Get pampered by wifey more ... which she does anyways each day. Love you sooooooooo much #bestfatherever #happybirthdaytobestdadever #cutiepie #squishycheeks." Bipasha's husband and Basu family's doting son-in-law, Karan Singh Grover too, wished his father-in-law with an array of pictures. Along with them, he wrote, "Wish you a very very very happy birthday Papa @hirakbasu May the universe bless you with infinite abundance, love and joy!!! Have an awesome one!" Karan Singh Grover had often spoken about the relationship he shares with his wife, Bipasha Basu Singh Grover's family. Recalling an incident when witnessed an argument between the two Bong beauties, his wife, Bipasha and his mother-in-law, Karan had said in an interview with a media portal, “One day, I saw Bipasha and her mom fighting and it was like this tandaav happening! Her dad and I kept looking at each other. His sarcasm and humour is something else.” Revealing his father-in-law’s sarcasm and humour to the same, Karan had continued, “He told me, ‘Hamara dono biwi na… fire hai! Tum usske saath thoda thanda rehna. Tum water sign na, aag ke upar paani daal dena. No problem.’”
In an interview with News18, Karan Singh Grover had talked about his wife, Bipasha Basu Singh Grover’s big Bengali family and had stated, "I think they really needed me. They needed one person to listen, because everyone always talks at the same time. Everyone talks about different things at the same time. Everyone talks in Bengali obviously, which I know now." He had added, "So I think they had this big need for somebody like me, who listens. Sometimes they ask me, why are you not talking? I say you guys need someone to listen because you all talk at the same time. I feel blessed to have been taken in as a part of this family with such wonderful people who make such yummy food." Karan Singh Grover and Bipasha Basu Singh Grover spend Sundays at her parent’s home and revealing what yummylicious dishes her mom cooks for them, he had stated, "Sundays we spend time with the family. Mom cooks dishes like kosha mangsho, chingri malai curry, or poshto. And doi. I think I was born to eat mishti doi. It's my thing. I can live on it. And kheer kodom also. It's a mouthful of heaven."
