Janhvi Kapoor recalls drowning in insecurities after mom, Sridevi’s death

In a recent interaction on Ranveer Allahabadia’s podcast, Janhvi Kapoor looked back on the tough times she had to deal with after losing her mother, Sridevi. The actress mentioned how back at that time, she felt like drowning in a sea of insecurities, and added how since her childhood, she was made to feel safe surrounded by people around her. Calling it her own reality, Janhvi said:

“I was in a very different emotional state when you met me last. I was drowning in insecurities. I think more than I am now. I am reaching up for once in a while. It has been conditioned into me from a very young age. When you’re entire existence and everyone around makes you feel like… and this in no way is me asking for sympathies. Everyone has different realities, this is mine.”

Janhvi says she lost out on her self-worth, sought validation at wrong places

Moving forth in the conversation, Janhvi Kapoor then added how, contrary to her image of being a privileged star kid, reality was completely different for her, especially after losing her mother. The diva mentioned that there was a time when she sought validation from everywhere, including the wrong places, since she lacked in her self-worth post the traumatising loss. In her words:

“When people have such a heavy perception of you when you’re privileged and baggage, and you are made to feel apologetic about the space that you take up in the industry and the school, every time you make friends, or you do well in school or you get any sort of opportunities, it is always pinned to where you come from. You don’t know what value to give yourself individual of these aspects so I think self-worth was always a thing. I didn’t know how to assess my value. And after losing mom, I think I was seeking validation from a lot of places I shouldn’t have been seeking validation from.”
