South Korean actors, Han So Hee and Ryu Jun Yeol have been in the headlines ever since the media started speculating about a romantic bond between them. The dating controversy began when the two Hallyu actors were spotted by an unnamed tourist holidaying in Hawaii. While So Hee and Jun Yeol initially denied such rumours, only to confirm the speculations later on. This led to a scandal surrounding Ryu Jun Yeol’s ex-girlfriend, Lee Hyeri, who he dated for six years before calling it off.
Ryu Jun Yeol inconspicuously returned to South Korea from Hawaii on March 17, 2024, following the entire controversy. A day after his arrival in the country, Han So Hee was spotted at the Incheon airport, where she was seen flashing her brightest smile, unlike her present boyfriend. But what caught the attention was a particular accessory. Han So Hee was wearing a casual tee and jeans paired with a multicoloured sweater, and a ring on her ring finger was clearly visible in the pictures shared by Dispatch Korea on their Instagram account.

As soon as the pictures were posted, netizens started speculating that Han So Hee was wearing a couple’s ring after confirming her relationship status with Ryu Jun Yeol. However, later, a South Korean media outlet, OESN reported that the band which the actress was seen flaunting was not an engagement ring but a friendship ring. The report mentioned:
“After confirming with Han So Hee, the ring on her fourth finger is a friendship ring. It’s a birthstone ring made with her friends from her hometown.”

Han So Hee and Ryu Jun Yeol’s dating news snowballed into a scandal when the latter’s ex-girlfriend, Lee Hyeri, came into the picture. She shared a cryptic post on her Instagram account. Hyeri posted a picture consisting of a beautiful daytime sky with palm trees in the foreground. She captioned the story, “That’s fun.” This led to speculations that Lee Hyeri took a dig at her ex-boyfriend. She even unfollowed Ryu Jun Yeol after his dating rumours with Han So Hee surfaced online. Moreover, Han So Hee shared a post on her Instagram story featuring a puppy with a knife, which was speculated to be Han So Hee’s answer to the ongoing rumours. She wrote:
“Puppy in image: Explain this situation to me. I don't even like people who have a lover. I don't even keep them under the title of a friend. I don't take an interest, establish relationships, or interfere with other people's relationships. I like the program Transit Love, but it's not in my life. It's fun for me too.”
Soon after posting this on her Instagram, Han So Hee confirmed in a long blog post that she was, in fact, dating Ryu Jun Yeol. The actress also admitted that her relationship with the Reply 1988 actor began after he parted ways from his ex-girlfriend, Lee Hyeri in 2023. So Hee and Jun Yeol started dating each other at the beginning of 2024, hence, the actress clarified that there was no overlap with Jun Yeol’s previous relationship.
