American supermodel, Gigi Hadid is best known for gracing the runways of some of the most popular luxury brands in the world. The elegant lady always makes sure that she turns everyone’s heads towards her while she is on the runway. The 28-year-old is not only a successful model but also an entrepreneur.
The mode-turned-designer launched her fashion brand, Guest In Residence, in 2022. Gigi is the Creative Director of the Cashmere knitwear brand. In numerous glamorous photos of the model, Gigi appears to be a person who loves being dramatic. But in reality, Gigi enjoys simplicity. In a recent interview with Net-E-Porter, Gigi spoke about being assertive while working, balancing motherhood and job, along with her Hollywood ambitions.

Gigi Hadid, who is almost always seen in the most over-the-top outfits, mentioned that she is not the flashy celebrity people assume her to be. She says that she is more into classic basics than some high-octane fashion. She said:
“When I design, I don’t just think about myself as this flashy public figure that everyone sees, because that’s not what I am most of the time. I borrow a lot of those glamourous, amazing things that I wear; I rarely get to keep them. What my wardrobe is, and why I started a company like this, is what I know well and love: it’s all about classic basics – and making those fun.”
In the same interview, she talked about learning nuances of the fashion industry each day. Gigi further added that she has to remind herself every day that she is now a boss. She feels surreal being in charge of the company. The supermodel said that she now has to be assertive with her decisions while collaborating with the other employees. She said:
“I think I learnt a lot about myself in terms of, I can be a bit of a people-pleaser. I have learnt a lot about being assertive, which doesn’t make you a b***h… As long as you do what comes naturally, which is not to be rude, you can say how you feel – and sometimes you have to do that to get things done in time.”
Gigi Hadid is one of the most revered names in the fashion industry. Since her debut in 2013, she has practically ruled the fashion world. So, it won’t be wrong to say that people can believe her aesthetics when it comes to her fashion brand, Guest In Residence. She takes extreme pride in offering reliable, precious, playful clothing options. The core collection consists of joggers, hoodies, tanks and boxers, available in vibrant hues like bubblegum pink or emerald green, which are perfect day-to-day wear. The clothes range from USD 300 and above.
Despite the massive success of her clothing brand, Guest In Residence, Gigi Hadid has not been deterred from the runway. Her modelling career remains her favourite professional field. But she is now more conscious of the job she takes up after having her daughter, Khai.

The model mom, Gigi Hadid talked to Net-E-Porter about balancing her profession and being available to her 3-year-old daughter, Khai. She talked about working intentionally when her daughter stays with Zayn Malik. For the unversed, Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik welcomed their daughter in 2020. She said:
“I think when you are a parent, you have to be intentional because, now, I literally have half the time. I work when my daughter is with her dad, and that’s the time I have. And the jobs I choose to fill that time with have to be ones that are fulfilling to me. I will literally fit in as many jobs as I can on those days. I’m sometimes a crazy person, but if it means a lot to me, then I do it.”
Gigi continues to say that, at present, she just wants to focus on things that are new and excite her a lot. She said:
“I want to do things that are new and feel exciting; where everyone is going to leave feeling fulfilled and that they did something fun that day.”
Apart from being an absolutely stunning model, a successful entrepreneur, and a caring mother, Gigi Hadid also wants to try her hands on acting. She mentions in the interview that she wants to work in films. For those who don’t know, Gigi appeared on Netflix’s show, Next In Fashion, and has lent her voice to the romcom, Never Have I Ever. Gigi Hadid added:
“If and when the right script comes around, I’d still like to do a movie one day. I took acting classes for a few years in New York. But a lot of scripts that I’ve gotten over the years are just the most obvious roles for me to play. It is what it is, but I’ve only auditioned for the ones that I didn’t feel were obvious.”
Gigi Hadid shed light on her wish to star in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. She mentioned that even a background character would have thrilled her. Well, we can only pray that the director fulfils this earnest desire of Gigi’s in the sequel (if there’s any at all) of the blockbuster film.
