Popular singer, Diljit Dosanjh has been ruling many hearts with his terrific performances in the music and film industry. He never fails to etch a mark in the hearts of his zillion fans. Now, Diljit is looking forward to his next release, Amar Singh Chamkila, opposite Parineeti Chopra. While Diljit always hits the headlines for his professional front, his personal life remains under wraps.
While Diljit Dosanjh has maintained that he will not speak publicly about his family as he wishes to secure his good boy persona. However, in a new Indian Express profile, the singer's friends shed light on Diljit's personal life. A source, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that the singer is married to an American-Indian woman and they are blessed with a son. Diljit's friend said:
“An intensely private person, little is known about his family but friends say his wife is an American-Indian and they have a son, and his parents live in Ludhiana.”

Diljit began making his own music even in his teens. In an interview with The Indian Express, Makhan Singh, the sarpanch of Diljit’s childhood village, shared some more deets about the latter's family. He revealed that the singer's father was a bus driver with Punjab Roadways and loved to play Hockey. In Makhan's words:
“His father Balbir Singh was a bus driver with Punjab Roadways who enjoyed playing hockey in his spare time.”
Meanwhile, singer-composer, Balvir Boparai, who used to work with a Ludhiana-based record company many years ago, recalled how Diljit had approached him in the year 2000. Balvir shared that Diljit was looking for opportunities in the then-thriving music scene of Ludhiana as he had good rhythm and bhangra skills. He said:
“He barely had any beard, but he had the rhythm, did bhangra well, and tied a very good turban. He was 16 when we cut his first album Ishq Da Uda Ada (The ABC of Love). By the time he was 17, he was charging Rs 50,000 for a show and was getting booked almost every day during the wedding season.”

For the unversed, Diljit Dosanjh was born on January 6, 1984. The talented star began his singing career in 2002. However, it was his Punjabi music album, Smile in 2005 and Chocolate in 2008 that garnered him a lot of attention. Later, he made his acting debut in 2011 with the Punjabi movie, The Lion of Punjab. Not just this, Diljit has also worked in many Bollywood movies like Good News, Crew and many others. In 2023, Diljit became the first Indian artiste to perform at Coachella and then collaborated with international pop star, Sia.
