Dev Anand was one of the most talented gems of an actor back in the 70s and 80s. The actor contributed to some of the most amazing filmography in Indian cinema, and his films are re-watched again and again even today. Recently, the actor was helmed in the headlines once again, as news about his Juhu bungalow being sold off for a whopping price had surfaced. However, the late actor’s nephew has a different response to all the buzz about any kind of such a deal.
In a recent revelation to ETimes, Dev Anand’s nephew and filmmaker, Ketan Anand refuted all claims of the superstar’s sprawling Juhu bungalow being sold off by Dev Anand’s family for a price of Rs.400 crores. The filmmaker revealed to have cross-checked the news with the late actor’s daughter, Devina and revealed that it was nothing but a hoax. He mentioned:
“No, it's false news. I have checked with Devina and the family.”
According to a previous report by the Hindustan Times, Dev Anand’s iconic Juhu bungalow had been sold. It was the house where the actor had spent 40 years of his life along with his wife and children. Moreover, the bungalow had apparently fetched a massive sale value of Rs. 350- Rs. 400 crores. The report had further stated that a 22-storeyed tower would replace it. The report could be quoted as:
“Dev Anand’s Juhu bungalow has been sold to a real estate company. The deal is also done and paperwork is going on. It has been sold for approximately Rs.350-400 crores as it’s a prime location with bungalows of prominent industrialists in the locality. The place will now be replaced by a 22 floors long tower.”
The same report had also cited a plausible cause behind Dev Anand’s bungalow being sold, and had mentioned that the actor’s family, including his wife and children were unable to keep up with its maintenance, and as a result decided to sell it off. It also stated that the sale value of the property would get equally distributed between his wife, Kalpana and their kids, Suniel and Devina.
Late actor, Dev Anand, had once during one of his media interactions, spoke about his decision to build his residence in Juhu. He had revealed that the bungalow’s serene surroundings full of wilderness attracted him to the extent of building his own house there. Calling himself a loner, the actor had said that he loved staying away from the hustle and bustle of the city life and wanted to reside somewhere in peace.
