Angelina Jolie is undeniably one of the most graceful ladies in the world of glitz and glamour. The 48-year-old is known for her tremendously successful acting career, humanitarian work, and ever-young charming looks. The actress has always been tight-lipped about her personal life, but recently, she opened up about the same.
For the unversed, Angelina Jolie got married thrice to date, with the latest being to Brad Pitt. The duo dated for over a decade before tying the knot in 2014, only to get divorced in 2016. The former couple is involved in a contentious legal dispute regarding their children's custody and jointly-owned winery. Angelina has finally shared about her divorce with Brad Pitt and the life after.
In a recent interview with Vogue, Angelina Jolie spoke about her life since becoming a mother and separating from her ex-husband, Brad Pitt. The former couple welcomed six children together, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins, Vivienne and Knox. During the interview, the 48-year-old actress opened up about her experiences of becoming a parent in her twenties and reflected on her life. She said:
“I was 26 when I became a mother. My entire life changed. Having children saved me – and taught me to be in this world differently. I think, recently, I would’ve gone under in a much darker way had I not wanted to live for them.”
Angelina Jolie mentioned that she is currently in the process of healing and self-discovery. At the age of 48, she still feels like she is changing as a person. She revealed that she hasn't felt like herself for the past ten years and also highlighted how her family has managed to stay strong through tough times. She said:
"We had a lot of healing to do. We’re still finding our footing.”
In the same interview, Angelina Jolie shared that she has been reducing the load on the professional front for the past seven years. She said she now has a profound affinity for roles that do not require long shooting schedules. While Jolie did not provide details, her hiatus from films happened around the time of her divorce from Brad Pitt, whom she filed for divorce in September 2016 after an alleged physical altercation on a flight.
As for Angelina Jolie's professional front, the actress led the successful Disney movie, Maleficent in 2014. She co-directed and co-starred with Brad Pitt in By the Sea in 2015, which did not do well at the box office. Angelina has only two major roles under her name in the past eight years. One in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil in 2019, and the other in Those Who Wish Me Dead in 2021. She has also appeared in supporting roles in Eternals in 2021 and Come Away in 2020 and provided her voice for The One and Only Ivan in 2020 and the upcoming film, Kung Fu Panda 4.
Angelina Jolie also spoke to Vogue about the upcoming launch of Atelier Jolie, a socially and environmentally conscious fashion line. She credited the company with aiding her emotional recovery during a break from Hollywood.
“I think part of this has also been therapeutic for me — to work in a creative space with people you trust and to rediscover yourself,” Jolie said. “I’m hoping to change many aspects of my life. And this is the forward-facing one.”
