Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri had first met at Pune Film Institute in the year 1970. While she was already a star, he was trying to make a mark in the industry. Jaya was a perfect blend of modern and traditional values, and thus, matched perfectly with Amitabh’s idea of a dream woman. They had professionally met on the sets of Guddi, and had fallen in love with one another.
It was in 1973 when the 'Angry Young Man' of Bollywood, Amitabh had broken the hearts of millions of girls and had married his ladylove, Jaya Bhaduri in a chat mangni, pat vyaah. Now, they have been together for 48 years, standing strong through the storms of life. Amitabh looks mesmerised with his wife and it gets evident with the ways he brings in her name in almost every episode of his popular show, Kaun Banega Crorepati.

As the 13th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati is running successfully, the makers dropped a new promo featuring Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao as the guests. In the video, Neena pulled out a few cue cards to ask from the show's host, Amitabh Bachchan. Amongst the set of questions, Neena asked Amitabh, “Kisi cheez se bachne ke liye, kya aapne kabhi apne partner se jhoot bola hai?” Amitabh, though, first redirected the question towards Gajraj, and then referring to his wife, Jaya, gave a reply, which cracked everyone up. He said:
“Humara aisa hai ki, prathidin humko jhoot bolna padta hai.”
Amitabh Bachchan often talks about his wife, Jaya Bachchan on his reality show. On December 3, 2021, Amitabh's daughter, Shweta Bachchan Nanda and his granddaughter, Navya Naveli Nanda had taken the hot seat. For the unversed, this was KBC's 1000th episode and Amitabh's wife, Jaya, had also joined them through video call. Amitabh's daughter, Shweta was seen pulling her father's leg for making fun of her 'mumma', Jaya, in the previous episodes. She had said:
"We often watch KBC and you often say a lot of things about us and about mummy (Jaya)."

While talking about it, they had played a clip from Genelia D'souza and Riteish Deshmukh's episode, where the actress had asked, "If you see 5 missed calls from Jaya. What will happen then?" Amitabh had responded to that by saying, "Earthquake." To add a reason to his defence, Amitabh Bachchan had said that when he calls back Jaya to ask why she called so many times, she says, she wanted to ask, "What do you want to eat for dinner?"
In one of the episodes of Kaun Banega Crorepati 13, Amitabh Bachchan was seen blushing as he had recalled his love marriage with Jaya Bachchan. During the episode, when a contestant had revealed how he had met his wife and had an arranged marriage, Amitabh had asked him to explain the difference between love and arranged marriage.
While revealing the difference between both, the contestant had stated that although he had an arranged marriage, people thought that it was love. At that moment, Mr Bachchan had recalled his marriage to Jaya and had said, "Dekhiye, humko toh maalum nahi hai arranged marriage hota kya hai. Kyuki…nai main." But before completing the sentence, Mr Bachchan was seen blushing as he had turned around and hid his face.
Even after 48 years of married life, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan never fail to give us couple goals!
