Amar Singh Chamkila is considered as one of the biggest names in the history of Punjabi music. The director signed Diljit Dosanjh to play the character of 'Amar Singh Chamkila' and Parineeti Chopra to play 'Amarjot Kaur', who is Chamkila's second wife. While AR Rahman composed the film's soundtrack, lyrics are penned by Irshad Kamil, and the song, 'Ishq Mitaye' sung by Mohit Chauhan is already a hit.

The buzz around Amar Singh Chamkila's biographical drama is huge as not many people are aware of his life story, which is nothing less than a movie. However, as per multiple reports, Imtiaz Ali's film isn't going to feature the iconic Punjabi singer's first wife, Gurmail Kaur. There's no mention of her name in the cast list on multiple platforms like IMDb, Bollywood Hungama, IndiaTimes, and more.
Well, it's quite obvious as Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra are the leads of the film, which clearly proves that the biographical drama is solely based on the lives of Amar Singh Chamkila and his second wife, Amarjot Kaur. However, in an interview with The Times Of India, Chamkila's daughter, Amandeep Kaur admitted that she is excited to see her father's biopic, as she and her sister, Kamaldeep Kaur are also shown in Imtiaz Ali's film.

Once, in an interview with The Times Of India, Amar Singh Chamkila's daughter, Amandeep Kaur, from his first wife, Gurmail Kaur opened up about her father's death. The doting daughter admitted that after her father's demise, her mother was not keeping well, and her health started deteriorating.
In the same interview, Amandeep Kaur further revealed that every year on her father's death anniversary on March 8, several people come together to honour his life, and it is an emotional moment for her family. When asked about her age at the time of her father's death, Amandeep revealed that she was just four years old and had only hazy memories of her father.
According to several reports, the much-speculated reason behind Amar Singh Chamkila's assassination was the 'jealousy' among his competitors. According to reports, Chamkila's arch-rivals were finding it hard to keep up with the former's success and fame.
