Due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, the entire world is under lockdown. Office goers are working from home, whereas schools and colleges are shut to stop the virus from spreading further. Since many colleges have decided to remain closed for some time, extending semester exams or even depriving students of an official graduation ceremony. And a similar situation is faced by Shweta Bachchan Nanda’s daughter, Navya Naveli Nanda, who was supposed to be graduated in 2020. Navya Naveli Nanda, who is a student of New York’s Fordham University was graduated on May 6, 2020. But due to the ongoing pandemic, the college didn’t host an official graduation ceremony for Navya’s batch. But her super mommy, Shweta Bachchan Nanda made sure that her doting princess gets the feel of a graduation ceremony. Shweta made sure to host a DIY ceremony at their home garden with all the necessary props. From a hand-stitched graduation gown to a chart paper made graduation hat, she made sure to boost up her daughter’s spirit.
On May 6, 2020, Navya’s maamu, Abhishek Bachchan shared a congratulatory note for his niece, Navya. He took to his Instagram handle and shared a picture of Navya celebrating her graduation ceremony in their garden and wrote, “Congratulations my Navya on your graduation! Although due to the lockdown you were not able to celebrate it at your university with your classmates and the home garden had to suffice... Seems like yesterday that we were moving you into your dorm room as a freshman... Wait, strike that. Not "we", "I"!! (You always managed to make Mamu do the heavy lifting). God bless you! Can't wait to see what you have in store for the world.”
The proud mommy, Shweta Bachchan had congratulated her little baby Navya by posting pictures from their home graduation ceremony. Along with the pictures, she wrote a heart-melting message which can be read as “Class of 2020 - Navya finished college today and since she and everyone else graduating this year won’t get a ceremony we decided to DIY one. With a chart paper cap and a gown hand stitched from scraps of black tenting. I threw on a Fordham (her college) sweatshirt over my PJ’s!! Congratulations baby I love you and am proud of you! On December 6, 2019, Navya had turned a year older and her doting mamu, Abhishek Bachchan had shared an adorable birthday wish for her. He had taken to his Instagram handle and had posted a picture of himself with Navya and had written, “Happy birthday my Navya. Mamu loves you very much. #MyPartnerInKicks.”
Shweta Bachchan Nanda has always been protective of her kids and their choices in life. On Koffee With Karan Season 6, featuring Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan, Shweta had expressed her concern for her daughter joining the film industry. Shweta had stated that she firmly believes that Navya has no business being in the industry just because she comes from a family of famous people, unless she is completely driven, has the talent and feels passionate about it. A couple of years ago, when Navya was asked about making a career in Bollywood during an interaction with Vogue India, she had stated, "No way I'll make a career in acting. I am enjoying my internship at the advertising agency. I love the independence I get in Manhattan."
