Wonder Man has started streaming on Disney+ from January 28, 2026 (ET). Marking the debut of another character from Marvel Comics, the miniseries has once again proved that the MCU is back to its old form, where every project was leaving a positive impression on the audience. It has brought what the viewers are expecting, providing a good introduction for 'Simon Williams' on the small screen, and not missing a single detail about the character.

Expectations have been sky high from the show, considering that Destin Daniel Cretton, known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is the creator and has even directed two episodes. The series is unique and an improvement over the previous entries that fans have witnessed so far in Phase Six of the MCU. With eight episodes, there is enough entertaining material to keep viewers engaged from the beginning until the end. Let’s have a look at what works in the show, making it a good choice for everyone to watch and enjoy.

Chemistry between the lead characters in Wonder Man is the main highlight of the series

As revealed before the premiere, Wonder Man focuses on 'Simon Williams,' an actor who is planning a comeback in Hollywood. 'Trevor Slattery' joins him on his journey as they work to get a role in a reboot of the Wonder Man movie, which even turns out to be 'Simon’s' favorite film. Portrayed by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley, the actors bring out their best on screen when it comes to portraying their characters.

The lead characters are actors in the show, and there are certain moments where their acting skills are displayed on screen, making viewers feel that they deserve to get the roles they want. Yahya and Ben share good chemistry at the same time, and their relationship is what helps the story to move forward. Audiences would easily feel for 'Simon,' who used to be a popular face in Hollywood and is now struggling to climb back on top.

Wonder Man brings a different side of 'Trevor Slattery'

The producers opting to bring back 'Trevor Slattery' is undoubtedly the best decision they have made for the show. Ben Kingsley is the perfect choice for the character, and the actor proves it once again with his performance. Back in 2013, MCU fans were disappointed with the fact that 'Trevor' did not turn out to be the 'Mandarin' at the end of Iron Man 3. The character returned in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, bringing some fun moments.

But the situation is opposite in Wonder Man. There are sequences where 'Trevor Slattery' takes away from the spotlight from 'Simon Williams,' specifically since 'Trevor' displays a soft side of himself on screen. 'Trevor’s' efforts to get a role in the Wonder Man movie also get more interesting to watch since he is revealed to be spying on 'Simon Williams' on the orders of Agent Cleary and the Department of Damage Control.

Short runtime of the episodes makes Wonder Man a binge-worthy watch

It has been a common habit for today’s filmmakers to create lengthy shows with long runtimes for each episode. However, Wonder Man intends to entertain, which is why it has a shorter runtime and more engaging material. The makers have even opted not to unnecessarily stretch the final episode, keeping the runtime at 32 minutes. Another one of the episodes airs for 23 minutes. A short runtime means that everything about the lead characters has been explored properly, keeping viewers excited for 'Simon' and 'Trevor’s' return in future projects of the MCU.

Wonder Man brings multiple moments that are relevant to the lives of real-life actors

Hollywood films and TV shows have witnessed cameos of popular personalities and lead characters going for interviews on shows, whose names remain the same, like they are in real life. There have been actors and other artists who managed to climb on top with the help of connections, or if they were born to a family that has been active in the entertainment industry for decades. Wonder Man refers to this concept in the show.

Viewers can easily see the talent of 'Simon Williams' and 'Trevor Slattery.' But their struggle proves that they need to know someone on the inside if they wish to become the top stars. Another thing that is taken from real life is filmmakers opting for reboots and remakes of cult classics. Disney has been doing that for a long time. The main premise of Wonder Man also includes a director who is doing a reboot of a popular movie. However, the audience decides if the film deserves to be praised or rejected.
