Martial arts influencer Tamyris Teixeira Santos, 36, was found dead after friends reportedly left her and went home when she vanished at sea. She was last seen entering the sea at Leblon Beach.
Three days after Brazilian Martial Arts influencer Tamyris Teixeira Santos vanished at sea, her lifeless body was found washed up on the shore of Rio de Janeiro on April 21, 2026. Tamyris, a lawyer by profession, was last seen hanging out with her friends on Saturday, April 18, 2026, spending time together at a beach kiosk before going for a swim in the ocean. While all others came back home, Tamyris never returned.
After her body was discovered, everyone was left astonished wondering why neither of Tamyris' friends raised an alarm about her going missing, and instead went back home without taking her along.
Tamyris was reportedly last seen at Leblon Beach on April 18, 2026, hanging out with a group of friends at a kiosk. After she vanished into the water, her friends left the beach, and her lifeless body later washed up to the Botafago Beach on April 22, 2026, far away from the beach she had disappeared in, according to local news outlets. G1 reported that the late influencer's body was identified the following day by her family and relatives.
Tamyris reportedly went for a swim around 5 p.m. local time and never returned. What has left many unsettled is the lack of urgency that followed. Her friends did not raise an alarm or actively search for her, and no missing report was filed that day. They reportedly left the beach and went home without informing anyone. Adding to the growing confusion, the influencer was reportedly a strong swimmer who had long trained in martial arts, especially jiu-jitsy and Muay Thai. Her family, friends, and folllowers are finding it difficult to process the fact that Tamyris died from reported drowning.
More than being a martial arts influencer, Tamyris Teixeira Santos was a lawyer by profession. Born in 1990, the 36-year-old reportedly grew up in Brazil, training and practising as a lawyer, while also pursuing martial arts. After graduating from the Candido Mendes University, the influencer practised law at Teixeira e Fernandes Advogados Associados and was known among peers as committed and reliable. However, not much information is available about her personal life or if she was romantically involved with anyone.
On social media, Tamyris was known as a martial artist who was training in jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai, and regularly sharing her progress online to her 18K+ followers. As a fitness influencer, she had become a beloved face in Brazil, and she also described herself a "fitness-oriented" individual with a strong connection to Rio's beach life. For the last few weeks, she had been posting glimpses from her Leblon Beach trip. Her last post was from April 13, 2026, where she was seen donning a black-toned swimsuit. Ironically, Tamyris openly took pride in her close friendships, but none of her friends apparently took any effort to help her when she drowned in the crowded beach.
Tamyris' family has been informed about her disappearance on April 19, 2026, and the beach staff also informed her family that her belongings were still right there. From whatever is known about her final moments, she was last seen in Leblon Beach, a few miles away from where her body was found. As per the fire officials, they didn't receive any rescue call on the day the Brazilian influencer went missing, and the sea condition was good. While G1 also reported that the eyewitnesses revealed that the friend group which was out there with Tamyris Teixeira Santos was consuming alcoholic beverages throughout the afternoon.
The influencer's friends and fans have been commenting on the post, no sooner than the report about her passing hit the headlines, demanding a deep investigation into this case. One of her friends also took to the comment section to say that she had spoken to the influencer only 24 hours ago. She called the late influencer a loyal friend and poured her heart out while speaking about the loss. According to Tamyris' autopsy findings, she died from a stroke caused by drowning, a condition linked to oxygen deprivation and water inhalation.
The only question bugging many at this point is the sheer negligence in Tamyris' friends' part. It wasn’t until a kiosk employee at Leblon Beach noticed Tamyris’ belongings had been left behind the next day and contacted her family that they became aware she was missing. The late influencer's mother, Elisabeth Teixeira, told local media that she struggled to understand how their 36-year-old daughter could just vanish from a crowded beach without anyone noticing. Elisabeth said:
"She said she was going over there and didn't come back. The beach was packed. There's no way someone could drown on a crowded beach!"
Tamyrin was a strong swimmer, and authorities are now reviewing witness accounts at the beach and available footage to understand what caused the almost 24-hour delay in reporting the influencer's disappearance.
