Sources have revealed that this is a bad sign for Tony, and if this trend continues, he might end up getting replaced. So, while the pressure is on Tony, the one person we know who will continue to have his back is his wife, Katy Tur.
Just like Tony Dokoupil, his wife, Katy Tur, is also very passionate about news. She has worked as a correspondent for MS NOW, which was previously known as MSNBC, since 2017. She reportedly got her start in 2009 at NBC News. In 2021, she had her show named after her - Katy Tur Reports.
Coming to Tony and Katy’s relationship, they met for the first time in the MSNBC makeup room in 2015. It was Katy who made the first move when she decided to send Tony an email later, asking him if he would be interested in joining her to get “a coffee, or Fanta, or frozen daiquiri” sometime.
On CBS Mornings, Tony Dokoupil recalled that he was super excited when she sent him the email and went on to forward the email to a friend while writing that this was promising since he had a crush on her for a long time. The news anchor also admitted that he did not reply to Katy right away and waited four hours before responding. He said:
“Guys are so dumb. I didn't want to seem overeager. However, I was smart enough to choose the daiquiri.”
As their relationship progressed, Tony Dokoupil and Katy eloped in Utah on October 27, 2017. The ceremony had actually continued as a family tradition, as Katy revealed in her book Unbelievable: My Front-Row Seat to the Craziest Campaign in American History that both her parents and grandparents had also eloped.
Katy revealed the news three days later on X (formerly Twitter) by posting a photo of the pair in their wedding outfits. Alongside the photo of Tony in a suit and her in a red dress, Katy wrote, “I'm back tomorrow after a nice weekend without my phone. Did I miss anything?”
A few years after this, Tony and Katy became parents for the first time when they welcomed their son, Theodore “Teddy” Dokoupil, on April 13, 2019. They embraced parenthood for the second time when they welcomed their daughter, Eloise Judy Bear Dokoupil, on May 13, 2021.
It is worth noting that Tony Dokoupil has two children from a previous marriage. Since the kids live in Israel, the former CBS Mornings co-host has opened up about fearing for their safety due to the war with Hamas. He said:
"It's tough. They live there with their mother, my ex-wife. They are safe. But just as a father, I think people can understand, if somebody, anybody, is firing rockets in the direction of your children without regard to whether they are struck or not, you're going to feel a thing or two."
For those unaware, Tony Dokoupil was named the new anchor of CBS Evening News on December 10, 2025. Celebrating the news, Katy Tur took to her Instagram to claim that her husband is “perfect” for the role. She also noted a more personal perk, joking that now he could finally help at home with their two young children after years of his early-morning schedule. She wrote:
“Welcome back to breakfast duty @tonydokoupil. We can't wait for daily pancakes.”
