It seems like things are not going well for Roy Moore in recent times. For those unaware, the Supreme Court decided to reject an emergency motion from Roy, in which he was looking to save the USD 8.2 million jury award that he had won previously over a campaign ad that had portrayed him in a false light. Amid this, the focus has shifted to his wife, Kayla Moore, who has always openly defended her husband even when others left his side. Kayla Moore had defended Roy Moore when he faced sexual assault allegations 

Some years back, Roy Moore faced accusations from several women that he had pursued sexual relationships with them when they were just teenagers. However, his wife, Kayla Moore, did not believe in these claims at all. Even when an Alabama woman named Beverly Young Nelson accused Roy of sexually assaulting her in her teen years, Kayla quickly came to his defence and said:

“I have been married to this man for 32 years. We’ve been together for 33 altogether. He just has never, one time, lifted a finger to me. He is the most gentle, most kind man that I have ever known in my life. He’s godly.”

Kayla Moore was very active about discrediting the accusations and would often be seen using her personal Facebook page, where she would write and promote posts that aimed to disprove the reports. Notably, Roy Moore had denied all the allegations at the time. 

Roy Moore first saw his wife, Kayla Moore, at a dance recital 

In his 2009 memoir, Roy gushed about his wife, Kayla Moore. He recalled that he first saw her at a dance recital at a nearby college in Alabama “many years ago.” Since then, he claimed that he never forgot about her, even when he saw Kayla several years later. While Roy did not mention what age Kayla was when he first saw her at the dance recital, the duo began dating when she was 23 years old. As per the memoir, this was just a year before they tied the knot. Recalling the moment that they met again at a church Christmas party, Roy wrote:

“Anxious to meet her, I began with the line, ‘Haven’t we met somewhere before? 'I don't think so,’ she replied.”

Roy was 38 years old when he married Kayla, who was 24. After the marriage, she decided to change her last name from Kisor to Moore. Kayla was divorced and had a child when she married Roy. 

Kayla Moore claimed that she met Roy Moore at a Bible Study

After Roy was removed from the Alabama Supreme Court in 2003, he started a non-profit called The Foundation for Moral Law based in Montgomery, Alabama. Kayla has served as the president of this non-profit. And although she used to not do many interviews, Kayla did open up about where she thinks she first met Roy and the accusations against her husband. Claiming that the allegations were “false” and “ugly,” she added:

“You know we met at a Bible study – that's where we met. We raised our children at a Bible-focused Christian home. You know, it's just not true – any of it.” 

Yes, unlike what Roy mentioned in his memoir that they had met at a Christmas party, Kayla believed that they first crossed paths at a Bible study. Hence, we cannot be sure which one of them was actually telling the truth and where they really met.
