Billy Crudup, the 57-year-old actor, made his film debut in 1996 with the movie, Sleepers. He appeared in many films, including Almost Famous, Big Fish, Mission: Impossible III, Spotlight, Alien: Covenant and Jay Kelly. He won two Primetime Emmy Awards for the TV series, The Morning Show. Currently, he is hogging the limelight for his comment on love. Coming to his personal life, Billy is married to actress, Naomi Watts.
Billy and Naomi have been married for two years now. The duo was linked for the first time nearly a decade ago. Before getting married, both Billy and Naomi were in relationships with different partners. Billy was dating actress, Claire Danes, while Naomi had a stable relationship with actor, Liev Schreiber. After parting ways with their partners, Billy and Naomi found solace in each other's arms. Now that Billy is making headlines for his comment on love, let us introduce you to his wife, Naomi Watts.
Naomi Watts was reportedly born on September 28, 1968, in Shoreham. She is a British actress and rose to fame with the film, Mulholland Drive. She also starred in the popular film, The Ring, King Kong, and The Desperate Hour. Over the years, she earned several nominations, including two Academy Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award and two Golden Globe Awards.
Naomi Watts is a mother of two children, Sasha and Kai. She welcomed the two kids with her then boyfriend, Liev Schreiber. The former couple welcomed their first child, a son, Sasha, in 2007 and their second child, a daughter, Kai, in 2008. While Naomi tries her best to be supermom to her two children, sometimes she struggles balancing both her work and motherhood. Speaking of the same, Naomi told Hamptons magazine in November 2020:
"Sometimes you feel like you're a supermom — baking a cake, playing board games and teaching them how to use the vacuum cleaner; you're just fully on top of it. And other times, you're like, 'Oh God, just let me hand them the devices and let me get done what I need to do,' you know? That's just the reality, and you have to forgive yourself on the days that you need to take that time for yourself and create that space."
Naomi Watts met her ex-boyfriend, Liev Schreiber, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual costume ball in 2005. They felt an instant connection at their first meeting. The duo was considered one of Hollywood’s most enduring couples. However, after 11 years of a relationship, they broke up in 2016. Announcing their split, the couple, in a joint statement, said to People:
"Over the past few months we’ve come to the conclusion that the best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple. It is with great love, respect, and friendship in our hearts that we look forward to raising our children together and exploring this new phase of our relationship. While we appreciate your curiosity and support, we ask the press to be mindful of our children and respect their right to privacy."
Billy and Naomi were first linked in 2017 when they came together in Netflix’s Gypsy. In the TV series, they played husband and wife. However, little do people know that the couple reportedly met each other in 2009, when Naomi was in a relationship with Liev. Billy and Naomi made their red carpet debut at the 2022 SAG Awards in Santa Monica after five years of togetherness. In April 2023, the couple sparked engagement rumours. On June 10, 2023, Naomi announced that she got married to Billy Crudup.
The couple supported each other’s careers and understood the commitment to work. Speaking to People, Billy shared that he and Naomi have been supporting each other for a very long time. He mentioned that they try their level best to stay by each other’s side. He said, "We've been doing this for a long time. I think we have some idea of how each of us manages our careers, and so we do the best that we can to just be supportive of the other person's agenda."
For the uninitiated, Billy shares a son, Will, with his former partner, Mary-Louise Parker. The couple split in 2003, when Mary was seven months pregnant with their son, Will. According to a 2024 report by Hello Magazine, Naomi and Billy maintain a blended family including three kids, Will, Sasha and Kai. In September 2020, Billy thanked Naomi and the three kids after winning the Emmy Award for his role in The Morning Show. His acceptance speech can be quoted as:
"And to the young people in my life: my glorious son, Will, my nephews, and all my godchildren, Sasha and Kai, please save us. Sorry to ask. I love you, and thank you."
