Twisha Sharma's mother-in-law, retired judge, Girbala Singh, has alleged that the parents of the deceased want Twisha's husband, Samarth Singh, to be arrested.
The demise of Twisha Sharma, who lived in Noida at the house of her in-laws, is taking an intense turn on an everyday basis. The mother-in-law of the deceased, named Girbala Singh, a retired judge, has accused the parents of Twisha of running a campaign against her family. She alleged that Twisha's parents are ensuring that Samarth Singh, husband of the deceased lands up in the jail.
Samarth Singh's mom, Girbala Singh, sat down for an interview with India Today TV, during which Twisha's parents tried to exert pressure on the authorities and the legal system, with the sole intention of getting Samarth arrested and her anticipatory bail rejected. Samarth Singh's mom, Girbala Singh, had shared:
"It seems to me that they are simply exerting mounting pressure, intent on ensuring that Samarth ends up in jail. They want my anticipatory bail to be rejected. They want everything that could possibly go wrong for us to happen."
Twisha Sharma's family had earlier alleged foul play in her demise and had accused her in-laws of domestic violence, wrongdoing, mental harassment, murder and even physical abuse. They did demand a second autopsy and have clearly refused to conduct her last rites, wanting justice. Girbala also slammed Twisha's family for refusing to conduct her last rites. Further to Twisha Sharma's case, a six-member Special Investigation Team has been formed. A case has been registered against Twisha's husband, Samarth and her mom-in-law, Girbala Singh, under varied provisions related to dowry death and also harassment. She further said:
"The child (Twisha) cannot even find a resting place in the earth. They are not doing the right thing by stopping the last rites. She should at least be allowed peace."
Girbala further responded to the allegations of a dowry demand of Rs. 2 lakh from Twisha's family and explained why they would ask for it. There has been no PI transaction, which is what they are showing. If her salary was Rs. 2 lakh, then why would she ask for this money? Twisha's mother-in-law claimed she had already transferred Rs. 8 lakh to Twisha and had also removed details of the money they had spent.
Twisha, who resided in Noida, was found hanging at her house in Bhopal's Katara Hills on the night of May 12, 2026. Reportedly, it has been a case of suicide. Twisha's mother-in-law alleged that she was continuously saying that she did not want to go ahead with the pregnancy. Girbala added:
"She immediately began insisting that she did not want a child. She would say the thought of a child was killing her and that she would die if she had one. As soon as her mother called, we all immediately started running up and down. When we saw our daughter, we tried to save her."
According to Twisha's in-laws, her family had arranged varied counselling sessions for her with a psychiatrist and a gynaecologist. It was during this time that Twisha's mom-in-law had alleged that she used to consume marijuana. Girbala further alleged that the deceased, who was being treated for anxiety, took pills for manic depression and schizophrenia. Girbala strongly denied allegations that her judicial background helped her secure anticipatory bail. The retired judge alleged that if she possessed that much influence, an FIR would not have been filed in the first place.
Rest in peace, Twisha Sharma.
