Former NFL quarterback and ESPN analyst, Tim Tebow is going through one of the toughest phases of his life. In a piece of heartbreaking news, he shared that his father, Robert Tebow, has passed away. According to reports online, Robert was 78 years old when he breathed his last. Tim took to his social media to share the sad news with his fans.
On Friday, April 24, 2026, Tom Tebow took to his social media to share some tragic family news. In the post, Tim revealed that his father, Robert Tebow, has passed away at 78. According to reports, Robert was a Baptist missionary in the Philippines when he was alive. In the long note, Tim described his Dad as a "hero of faith" who "was welcomed home last night." Along with a number of family pictures containing Robert, he wrote that while many might be sorry for his loss, in reality, his father is not lost, as they know exactly where he is.
Recounting the time he asked his father what he looked forward to the most in heaven, Tim revealed that his father simply said, 'Jesus.' Tim wrote that his father could not wait to see Jesus face-to-face. Tim stated:
"Heaven ushered in a hero of the faith last night as my Dad was welcomed home! Many will say sorry for your loss but the truth is, he’s not lost; we know exactly where he is. He’s home. Forever! I asked him last week what he looked forward to most about Heaven, and he simply said, “Jesus.” He couldn’t wait to see Jesus face-to-face. Praise God that his wait is over. Death has been swallowed up in victory. He’s healed and whole now. So we don’t mourn as those with no hope. See you soon, Dad!”
While Tim Tebow did not reveal his father's cause of death, it is believed that Robert Tebow might have passed away after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. It was back in 2016 that Tim opened up about his father's disease, claiming he was diagnosed “last summer.” In the interview, Tim recalled that he was in an Atlanta hotel room when he first learned of the news. He said:
"Talking to him that night, I wished that I could have been there with him. I asked him whether he needed me to come home, and he said, 'No, you need to keep doing what you're doing.'"
Despite his father reassuring him, Tim had a hard time hearing Robert's diagnosis. The former NFL star confessed, “It wasn't a good night. I got really emotional. I mean, this is my dad.” The news came as a reality check for Tim, and he soon had to reassess his priorities. For instance, he revealed that he began spending more time with his father. He said:
"I love being around him. We watch ball, talk ball. But I also go to him for advice about spiritual questions. There are times where he sees something from a different place than I do."
According to the publication, Tim became “drastically protective” of his father. He would often help Robert with difficult tasks like carrying his luggage. It is worth noting that despite the diagnosis, Robert's outlook did not change at all. He admitted to People, "I'm not going to retire from the Great Commission to spread the gospel. I may be slower, and I may shake on the way, but I still have work to do."
Team BollywoodShaadis wishes Tim Tebow and his family strength as they navigate the death of Robert Tebow.
