Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleSandra Bullock had a difficult time dealing with life after her longtime partner, Bryan Randall died in 2023. The actress recently pondered her grief, undergoing therapy, motherhood, and the significant changes she made to her life. The 62-year-old actress confessed to having a good therapist who has helped her embrace a happy outlook towards life.
Sandra Bullock was seen on SiriusXM’s SmartLess podcast, where she was in a conversation with Sean Hayes, Jason Bateman, and Will Arnett. Bullock was vulnerable and spoke about Bryan Randall's demise in August 2023. He was suffering from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, which is also called Lou Gehrig’s disease. Sandra stated that her therapist helped her learn a lot of things about herself after Bryan's death. In her words:
"Other things can frustrate me, things can upset me, I get pissed off, I get petty, but there’s a I’m so happy, and I feel like I’m a kid for the first time in my life as I’m seeing things that I’ve seen a million times before. But now I see them with such a love that I didn’t have before. It’s just, yes, I have a great therapist. Yes, I think I did the right thing with the kids. Yes, I did usher out Brian the way a human being deserves to be ushered out. I didn’t take care of myself then, but I do take care of myself now.”
The actress remembered the time when the COVID-19 lockdown took place, and she had to make food for the nurses who looked after Bryan. She did not feel right afterward and pondered over how, if she got stressed, then she would fall sick. In her words:
"As a woman, I’m like, ‘Something is wrong,’ and I said, ‘Oh my God. If all the stress gave me, like, cancer, that’s when I’m going to get mad. Not at anything else; I’m going to be pissed if I made myself sick.’ I remember being at the doctor, and she sees me coming in all amped up and bubble wrapped, and I said, ‘If I’m okay, I swear to God."
Sandra Bullock also opened up about Bryan's fight with ALS. She stated what she had to go through while looking after Bryan. The Practical Magic 2 actress also had to keep his amyotrophic lateral sclerosis diagnosis a secret for years. This is because Bryan did not want the world to know about it. In her words:
"I wasn’t allowed to speak about it. That was the request, and I honored it. He asked me not to share, and it isolated me in the process. My sister, for my birthday, gave me this beautiful pewter box, and it said ‘Leonardo da Vinci,’ a quote by him at like 87; he says, I’m still learning. I went, Oh. That’s why, I think, I have such happiness in my chest.”
For the unversed, Randall and Bullock were someone who always kept their relationship private. It was in 2015 when the pair started dating. Bullock welcomed Louis and Laila via adoption. Randall had always asked Sandra not to share information about his diagnosis publicly, though keeping the situation a secret had isolated her from the full process. For Sandra, Randall's diagnosis was traumatic as she started grieving four years before his demise. Sandra's sister, Gesine Bullock Prado, was the only one who knew about Randall's condition. Sandra could never deal with the grief until he passed away.
