Ray J, a popular singer, songwriter and reality TV personality, has been struggling with his health issues for some time now. He made headlines recently when he claimed that 2027 might be his last year and that he is nearing his death.

Ray J has expressed concerns over his health over time, followed by a series of hospitalisations and health scares. Ray mentioned that even if he loses the battle to his health, his family will be well taken care of and that he has financially secured their future.

Ray J's early life and the beginning of health issues

Born as William Raymond Norwood Jr, Ray J is the name he uses in the world of music. The 45-year-old singer rose to fame with hits like Sexy Can I and is also known for his appearance on reality TV shows like Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood. He grew up in McComb, Mississippi, before his family moved to Carson, California. Under his father’s guidance, he began learning music and vocal training. Throughout his career, he has built a diverse career in music, TV, and business as well. Recently,  the singer opened up about his hospitalisation after suffering from Pneumonia. He said:

Ray J has been suffering from various health conditions ever since covid when he first sought treatment for a lung infection. During his treatment, he shared the hospital wing with COVID-19 patients who tested negative for the virus. Ray J has been known for using mind-altering substances for a very long time, and now his health is catching up to the side effects. Addressing his health concerns, he told the media that if he ever dies, his family can spend all of his money without remorse, and that he wishes to be burned instead of buried.

Ray J has been thankful for his family and sister for taking care of him and paying his huge hospital bills. He stated that he is extremely grateful for his sister, who paid his bills for the entire year he was under treatment. He continued saying:

Ray J's involvement in multiple controversies 

2021 had been a turbulent year for Ray; he was hospitalised for a lung infection and faced a racketeering case against Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner. The mother-daughter duo sued him for defamation, countering which he sued them for a 2007 sex tape. Kardashian and Jenner’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, called the move frivolous in a November statement to Page Six.

In December 2025, Ray J was arrested after allegedly brandishing a gun on estranged wife, Princess Love. During the livestream, Ray appeared with a loaded handg** and made threats, claiming that someone was trying to take away his kids. The police later arrested him on charges of making a crimi*** threat, and the bail was set at USD 50,000.

In 2025, Ray J was involved in another controversy with popular streamer Kai Cenat. During the stream, he unexpectedly appeared while Kai was in the shower and tried to str** down and join him inside. The stream sparked questions about privacy, boundaries and ethics.
