The dead body of K. Bhagyaraj was being brought to his house in Chennai. Notably, a large crowd gathered at Bhagyaraj's house, including people from the film industry, who arrived to pay tribute to the late director. Apart from them, the media channels were also present at the place to cover the final rites live. When the ambulance arrived with Bhagyaraj’s dead body, it was surrounded by the media, following which the family members had difficulty bringing the dead body out of the vehicle. There was a lot of chaos at one point.
Radhika Sarathkumar was present inside the ambulance. Witnessing the chaos going around, she came out and confronted the media. Notably, her eyes had tears at that time. While Radhika initially asked the reporters to move, the situation remained the same. Radhika eventually became frustrated by this, and the crowd finally gave some space to the ambulance. Radhika told the media:
“Cinema is our life. But a human life is different. If you want TRP, we will act in a film for you. Please give us some privacy.”
The latest reports have revealed that K. Bhagyaraj was at his residence when he started feeling unwell during the early hours of the morning. He later collapsed on the couch after experiencing chest pain. Bhagyaraj was immediately transported to the hospital. However, the medical authorities could not revive him, leading to his death at the age of 73.
C. Joseph Vijay, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and superstar, Rajinikanth, also offered their condolences as they arrived at Bhagyaraj’s residence. Rajinikanth also met the family members. The news of Bhagyaraj’s death came around two days after he attended the wedding of Khushbu Sundar and Sundar C’s daughter, Avantika. Bhagyaraj was spotted meeting Chiranjeevi at the wedding, and videos from the occasion have recently surfaced online. Chiranjeevi paid tribute to Bhagyaraj and wrote on X:
“Just the day before yesterday, we were together in Goa at Kush’s wedding, laughing, sharing jokes, and taking pictures. Bhagyaraj garu was full of life and joy. To wake up to the news of his passing this morning is simply unbelievable.”
Before making his directorial debut in 1979, K. Bhagyaraj was a screenplay writer for two films, Puthiya Vaarpugal and Kanni Paruvathile. He even contributed to the dialogues and story of Sigappu Rojakkal and Niram Maratha Pookal. His last film as a director was Siddhu +2, released in 2010. Back in 2025, he appeared in five films, which included Enai Sudum Pani, Aandavan, Kuberaa, Antha 7 Naatkal, and BP 180.
