The reports went rife in the late hours of Tuesday, with many expressing their concern about the blogger. Amid the buzz, the police have finally shared a statement on what happened.
According to reports in the late hours of August 3, 2026, Perez Hilton began a livestream on TikTok. However, things took a turn when the social media star allegedly appeared to be harming himself. For the unversed, viewers have alleged that Hilton was harming himself with a knife and making apparent cuts on his body, with a bloody torso and face.
Hours after the news surfaced, the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office issued a statement offering an update on what happened. The office revealed that they received multiple calls regarding an individual harming himself. The person was later identified as Perez Hilton. They said in a statement that deputies spoke with his family members on scene and "tactically disengaged while continuing to monitor the situation." The statement read:
"The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office received multiple calls regarding an individual who was live-streaming acts of self-harm on social media. Deputies quickly located the individual's residence, where they spoke with family members on scene, and confirmed he was alone inside. In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritize de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication."
In the same statement, it was further revealed that the police tried to talk to Perez Hilton, allowing him to talk. They shared that in situations like that of Hilton's, their goal was always to de-escalate first. However, they also shared an exception and revealed that the cops keep their distance unless there is an evident and immediate threat to those around the person. The statement read:
"Unless there is an immediate threat to others, slowing the situation and utilizing crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of a suicide-by-cop encounter and minimize the risk of injury to the individual, deputies, and the public. At this time, deputies have tactically disengaged while continuing to monitor the situation."
As soon as the news surfaced online, fans began flooding social media sharing their concern for the star. Some users expressed their concern for Perez's children and said, "I knew when he adopted that kid had those kids it was a really bad idea. He's never been stable or healthy enough to be a parent. That poor kid. And I'm sorry, but I don't buy this. This is all for attention, like everything he's ever done. If he really wanted to die, he would go kill himself by himself where no one can stop him. He's broadcasting this on TikTok, giving himself surface-level cuts covered in blood to look as dramatic as possible."
Another commented, "Whenever live-streamed things like this happen, I tend to seek out the video, but this one made me nauseous; I closed it a few seconds in. This is worse than the Charlie Kirk and other live-streamed things. I wish I could unsee it. I was eating also at the time." While Perez has not yet responded to what happened, his representatives, Golden Artists Entertainment, released a statement saying:
"At this time, we have not been able to make direct contact with him, despite our ongoing efforts to reach him. Our primary concern is Perez's health and well-being, as well as the well-being of his family."
