Recently, the Patriots quarterback, Drake Maye, expressed his love for head coach, Mike Vrabel. Following this, Drake has been receiving extreme backlash online.
New England Patriots head coach, Mike Vrabel and the former NFL insider, Dianna Russini’s scandal is not resting any time soon. On April 7, 2026, Page Six released the lovey-dovey pictures of Dianna and Mike. Shortly after, the pair denied any wrongdoing. However, after more pictures surfaced online, Dianna chose to resign from her position at The Athletic, while Mike remained part of the Patriots. Amid this, the Patriots quarterback, Drake Maye, shared his support for Mike. However, he has been receiving extreme backlash for the following.
Amid the fiasco, the New England Patriots head coach, Mike Vrabel, missed Day 3 of the NFL draft. As per recent reports, an NFL executive criticised Mike for missing an important day like Day 3 of the NFL draft. While Mike and Dianna’s alleged affair has raised many eyebrows, the former seems to be getting the full support from his players. In fact, on April 21, 2026, during a Patriots press conference, Mike also mentioned having an honest conversation with the players. Recently, Drake Maye, the quarterback of the New England Patriots, came forward and shared his support for Mike. He told WHDH-TV 7News in Boston:
"We’re here for Coach, we love Coach. What he does for us, what he’s done for us this past year, you can’t speak into words. Thankful he’s our head coach. Know he’s dealing with some off the field and out of the coaching world, but we’re here for him, and I know he’s gonna come back."
Amid Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini’s alleged scandalous affair, Drake Maye’s statement didn’t go well with the NFL fans. NFL fans claimed that Drake’s take on the ongoing fiasco had painted the Patriots' head coach as the victim. Slamming Drake, a user wrote, "The way Drake Maye is talking is as if Mike Vrabel is somehow a victim. Good lord, this situation is pathetic." Another user commented, "Drake Maye supports cheating on your wife."
A third user penned, "He cheated on his wife with a reporter; he’s not suffering a life-threatening illness." A fourth user commented, "They’re acting like he had a family member die or something. Dude was caught cheating on his wife for 6 + years lmao." Another user wrote, "He didn’t have cancer…. he was caught being a low integrity POS and cheating on his family. If that’s the type of coach and leader you want… no wonder you got blown out in the Super Bowl. Patriots are the new Cowboys. Best days are over." Another comment can be read as:
"Coach is a sociopath and a liar who did whatever he wanted even if it meant blowing up two families and costing a woman her career. Can we stop acting like he’s a victim?"
Before joining the team, the New England Patriots, Mike was the head coach of the Tennessee Titans. For the uninitiated, Mike was head coach of the Titans from 2018 to 2023. However, after consecutive bad performances, Mike was fired by the owner, Amy Adams Strunk. Coming to his personal life, Mike has been married to Jen Vrabel since 1999. The couple completed 26 years of togetherness in 2025. The pair attended Ohio State University, but earned their diplomas at different times. Back then, Mike played football, and Jen was on the school's volleyball team from 1993 to 1996. The duo shares two sons.
