After his split from Diandra, Douglas got married to Catherine Zeta-Jones, with whom he is still together. Douglas is all set to release his memoir, One Helluva Ride, and before that, his revelation about his personal life hit the headlines. It was back in 1983, when Michael was shooting for Romancing the Stone with Kathleen Turner. Their closeness already ended up making speculations about their relationship.
Technically, Michael was married to Diandra, but according to his recent revelation, he was separated from his first wife by the time he was filming Romancing the Stone. Kathleen and Michael continued to deny that they had any relationship; however, recently the actor confirmed that they were secret lovers back then. But did you know that three years ago Kathleen confessed falling in love with the actor?
Speaking to The Guardian back in 2023, Kathleen shared that she and Michael were falling in love as they were filming; however, his ex-wife showed up on the set. According to Diandra, Michael shouldn't be considered available even though they were separated.
This was the reason that Michael and Kathleen's budding romance in real life had to end, as the actress didn't have any intention of getting involved in another woman's relationship. Kathleen could be quoted as saying:
"I think we might have been falling in love. But then Diandra flew down and made it clear that she did not consider Michael to be available. So that ended that because I can’t get involved with another woman’s relationship. But oh my, that attention is delicious."
In his memoir, Douglas revealed that he and Kathleen were in a relationship when they were shooting for Romancing the Stone. No one had any idea about it; however, he revealed that he snuck into his then co-star's room when everybody was asleep.
The actress admitted to being attracted to Douglas in several of her interviews; however, she said that nothing ever happened between them. 'That was a lie', as recently revealed by Douglas. They were so much in love, and it was not a fling. The duo kept on lying for four decades, which initially began as a way for the actor to protect his then-wife, Diandra, and their son.
In his memoir, Michael Douglas went on to reveal how Diandra flew down to Mexico, and things changed. Diandra and Douglas hit a rough patch before he started the film, and according to him, both of them were having extramarital affairs by then. During this time, the actor fell for Kathleen, who was single.
However, even though no one on the set had an idea about Douglas and Kathleen's secret romance back then, Diandra grew suspicious and had a one-on-one with her then-husband's co-star. She made it clear to Kathleen that she and Douglas were still married, and her views on separation from his views were different, according to which Michael was not available. This gave Kathleen a pause, and she backed off.
