'Made in Korea' is currently streaming on Netflix and features Priyanka Arul Mohan playing the lead role. Have a look at what happens at the end of the new comedy-drama movie.
Ra. Karthik’s Made in Korea is now streaming on Netflix. Featuring Priyanka Arul Mohan in the lead role, the comedy-drama premiered on March 12, 2026. The movie explores the theme of the common people’s attraction towards K-Dramas and K-Pop, and the popular personalities associated with this particular world. It follows the lead character, ‘Shenba,’ and her desire to visit South Korea one day after she learns about the East Asian country during her school days.
Compared to the usual stuff that is arriving on OTT platforms, Made in Korea is a little bit different. While the content has led to a divided response from critics and audience, let’s analyse what exactly happens at the end of the movie.
‘Shenba’s’ journey in Seoul does not start on a good note as she is taken to prison for slapping a man in the middle of the road. However, a local YouTuber named ‘Heo Jun-Jae’ helps to get her bailed, and they develop a close friendship. Things have not ended here, as ‘Shenba’ discovers that the claims made about the job offer were not true, and she asks for help from ‘Heo Jun-Jae’. ‘Shenba’ starts working as a caretaker for an old lady, who is sick.
It is later revealed that the old lady has been faking her health issues so that she can start a restaurant and become an independent woman. Notably, the lady does not want her son and his wife to know about it. The plan works, and with ‘Shenba’s’ help, the lady manages to start a restaurant named Granny’s Kitchen. ‘Shenba’ finds a music band at the same time, requesting them to use Tamil lyrics for their songs. The group then makes a music video, with ‘Heo Jun-Jae’ posting it on his YouTube channel. The video becomes a hit, and the group is approached by a music company.
While the record label’s offer brings some good news for the group, 'Heo Jun-jae' tells ‘Shenba’ that they don’t have the money to shoot a new music video. ‘Shenba’ decides to help, as she says in her narration that she gave some money to the old lady for safekeeping. ‘Shenba’ was initially supposed to return that money to her father, but she decides to help the group so that they can reach the next stage of their lives. The old lady initially disagrees, considering ‘Shenba’s’ decision to spend it on the band. However, the lady ends up giving the money to ‘Shenba.’
A few moments later, ‘Shenba’ is accused of stealing by the old lady’s son and his wife. The lady eventually comes in front of her son, standing on her feet, and tells her son to return the money to ‘Shenba,’ asking her to leave. The old lady confronts her son, with the former criticizing her son for never treating her like a mother. Following an intense conversation, the old lady collapses, and she is hospitalised.
As planned, ‘Shenba’s’ money helps the band to make a new music video. In between all these, ‘Shenba’ learns that there has been a landslide in her village, following which she immediately leaves Seoul. ‘Shenba’ has an emotional reunion with her family. ‘Shenba’ also finds that her boyfriend, ‘Mani,’ who left her at the beginning of the movie, helped her parents to get to the relief camp during the landslide. ‘Mani’ later meets ‘Shenba’ and apologizes to the latter, who thanks him for his help. The band then arrives in ‘Shenba’s’ village, and she is encouraged by her father to return to Seoul.
‘Shenba’ goes to meet the old lady at her house, which she finds locked and listed for rent. ‘Heo Jun-Jae’ tells ‘Shenba’ to listen to a voice recording that he received from the old lady. The woman tells ‘Shenba’ that she will always be like her daughter, expressing gratitude for being able to open the restaurant with ‘Shenba’s’ help. However, ‘Shenba’ is heartbroken to learn from ‘Heo Jun-Jae’ that the old lady has passed away. ‘Shenba’ reopens Granny’s Kitchen while recalling the memories she shared with the old lady.
