On July 13, 2026, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster appointed Darline to fill the remainder of Lindsey Graham's term, i.e., till January 2027. Darline Graham Nordone is currently an American public administrator. Prior to her interim tenure as US Senator, she spent her career focused on disability advocacy. She served as the commissioner and agency head of the South Carolina Commission for the Blind, administering vocational rehabilitation and independent-living programs. She also served on the South Carolina State Workforce Development Board and was named president-elect of the National Council of State Agencies for the Blind.
Darline shared a close-knit bond with her brother Lindsey Graham. Their personal lives are documented in her brother's memoir, My Story. The Graham siblings grew up in a single room behind their parents' restaurant, bar, and pool hall in Central, South Carolina. Tragically, both parents died within 15 months when Darline was just 13 and Lindsey was 21. At a young age, he became her legal guardian so she could receive his military benefits. Although she has largely stayed away from politics, she has been a familiar face within his personal and political circles for decades.
Lindsey's sister occasionally appeared alongside her elder brother during important events. During the 71-year-old US Senator's 2015 presidential campaign, Darline attended numerous campaign events and interviews to help voters understand the Senator's personal background and family history. He even joked that if he ever became the President, he would have a "rotational first lady", with his sister being one of them. Since she is Lindsey Graham's only survivor, she is likely the sole inheritor of his massive estate.
