The Summer House star explained that he reacted swiftly against West owing to his continued concern for his estranged wife, Amanda Batula.
Kyle Cooke shared a new statement on his Instagram Stories and addressed the controversy around his now-deleted comment. He revealed that irrespective of his differences with Amanda, he will always care about her. Therefore, he sometimes fights too hard for her. The reality TV star admitted that he became emotional and frustrated over Amanda's exit from her TV series, allowing his feelings to take over him. However, Kyle still believes his concerns were valid. In his words:
"Despite our differences, I will always care about Amanda, and when it comes to people I care about, I fight hard. Sometimes too hard. It's been an emotional and frustrating situation, and I have let those feelings get the better of me at times. But that doesn't mean my concerns aren't valid."
Kyle Cooke also explained that he hoped that both he and Amanda would get a chance to share their viewpoint on the upcoming season of In The City. However, he admitted that she had her own life and could make her individual decisions. The Summer House star's statement came after he called his estranged wife's boyfriend, West Wilson, a "coke head." He also accused him of "blowing up" Amanda's "life and career" in a now-deleted comment under his Instagram post.
For those who don't know, the conflict started after reports suggested that Amanda would not return for In The City Season 3. One report suggested that producers wanted her to appear in a reduced, part-time capacity. However, she allegedly refused because West won't be allowed to film with her. Meanwhile, some other reports suggested different explanations. Some cited disagreements over salary, while others blamed the timing of their appearances.
After Kyle's comment went viral, Amanda seemingly replied indirectly to Kyle's dig on X. She reposted a social media user's criticism of her estranged husband and added a bullseye emoji. The post suggested that the Summer House star had reacted angrily because Amanda made her own decision not to film the upcoming season.
At the same time, West also seemed to defend himself against criticism. He wrote that his friends should not call their partners "dumb ass bitch." The comment was reportedly made in response to a social media user who questioned his bond with Amanda and his friendship with Kyle. In fact, Kyle also spoke about his separation from Amanda on Bravo Fan Fest and revealed that they were trying to finalize their divorce.
Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula first met in the summer of 2015. Initially, they began casually dating on and off. At the time, Amanda explained that Kyle was hesitant to commit. But after several ups and downs, she eventually pushed for a serious relationship.
In turn, they stayed apart for a while, which made Kyle realize that he missed her a lot. Therefore, he made a romantic gesture to confess his love to Amanda. Eventually, they made their relationship official and featured together in Summer House.
Amanda and Kyle got engaged in September 2021 and tied the knot around the same time. However, they faced several relationship challenges like trust issues and cheating allegations. Eventually, in January 2026, Amanda and Kyle announced their separation.
Incidentally, two months later, Amanda and her Summer House castmate West Wilson made their relationship official. But the news left fans in shock since West was close friends with Kyle and also dated Amanda's friend, Ciara. Later, he and Amanda left the show before the filming of Season 11.
