The former model clarified that she wants to move on from her marriage to the former Olympic swimmer. In turn, she asked Ryan and Molly to respect her privacy.
Kayla Rae Reid sat down for an interview with Us Weekly on October 20, 2026. She stated that it was "deeply disturbing" that Molly Gillihan, who spent years following her life, is continuing to mention her and her children in her public interactions. She also replied to Molly, calling her a "narcissist" because she felt it was ironic due to Molly's constant focus on her.
Kayla Rae Reid shares three children with Ryan, 42. They include son Caiden, 9, and daughters, Liv Rae, 7, and Georgia June, 3. The model clarified that she has no interest in talking about her marriage or competing with anyone for her former husband. At the same time, she revealed that she is just focused on raising her children and managing the majority of the physical and financial responsibilities of parenting. Kayla also said that she might seek legal options if she had more time and money. In her words:
"I do not want to be discussed, monitored, contacted under false pretenses, or used as a storyline. And I certainly do not want my children used for public attention. At some point, the obsession needs to end. I have moved on. I suggest everyone else do the same. Leave my children and me alone. It really is that simple."
Kayla's comments come after Molly replied to an Instagram question about how often Ryan sees his children. Molly said that they visit his kids every month. The kids were also expected to spend Christmas break, spring break, and most of the summer with their father. But Molly added that this arrangement was not enough for them.
Later, Kayla called out Molly's claims. She explained that the children spend one month with Ryan during their two-and-a-half-month summer break and holiday custody is equally divided. Meanwhile, Ryan replied that he and Molly missed the children and loved them. In turn, he accused Kayla of creating a negative public perception.
He also revealed that Molly had asked him to delete his social media post to protect his peace. The former Olympic swimmer also spoke about his past mental health struggles and requested people to stop online bullying. But he gave no response to Kayla's latest statement.
For those who don't know, Ryan and Molly shared different details about the beginning of their relationship than Kayla's side of the story. According to the couple, they met in 2019, when Ryan had reportedly sent a direct message to Molly. He asked her for a ride from the airport while his wife was away. Molly revealed that she rejected his advances due to his marital status.
However, they reconnected in April 2025 when Kayla filed for a divorce. In fact, they claim that they came closer because their children go to the same school in Gainesville, Florida.
In contrast, Kayla has alleged that Molly was already part of their social circle. At the same time, her relationship with Ryan began while he was still married to her. The model also claimed that Molly spent time with her children and sent supportive texts while secretly dating Ryan.
Kayla also claimed that she found out about their relationship when Ryan accidentally sent her a screenshot of Molly's Instagram account. Instead, he wanted to send it to his brother. But Ryan and Molly denied that they dated before his marriage ended.
Kayla filed for divorce in March 2025 after seven years of their marriage. They described that their marriage was irretrievably broken. In fact, the decision came after years of personal, emotional, and financial difficulties. Kayla accused Ryan of persistent infidelity, including the time when she was pregnant. The former Olympian later admitted that he made mistakes because he wasn't ready to be a husband and a family man.
They faced more challenges when Ryan was in a car accident in 2023. It left him with a fractured femur. Apart from affecting his career, it also created more financial pressure for them. The former couple were in a debt to pay the massive hospital bills. In turn, Ryan sold some of his gold medals and Kayla managed the rest. Their divorce filings also revealed that they had conflicts over his substance use and caregiving responsibilities.
Eventually, Kayla asked him to seek inpatient treatment in early 2025. Still, things could not become better between them. Later, she filed for divorce that was finalized in July 2026. The model retained the primary custody of her kids, and Ryan was ordered to pay USD 1,000 per month in child support.
