Recently, in a podcast, late actor Mukri's daughter, Naseem Mukri, made fresh claims about the reason for Karisma Kapoor's breakup with Abhishek Bachchan. She claimed that it was Karisma Kapoor's mother, Babita Kapoor, who was against her relationship with Amitabh Bachchan's son. Hence, she put up a weird condition, which was the end of the two love birds' relationship.
When Vickey Lalwani questioned if Karisma and Abhishek fell in love during the shooting of Haan Maine Pyaar Kiya, Naseem replied that they were in love before the shooting began.
Naseem further added that Babita never liked the two of them together, and she wasn't in favor of her daughter marrying Abhishek. So, she was the one who told Karisma Kapoor to ask Abhishek to transfer these many crores before marriage, and then only then she would marry him, as she was more successful than Abhishek. She said:
"Babita was against their love. She was not allowing this relationship. She got them to break up because of this. Babita told Karisma, 'Ask Abhishek to transfer these many crores before the marriage; only then will you get to marry him... Because she was a bigger star than Abhishek. They broke up because of that."
Vicky Lalwani asked if Karisma was in love with Abhishek, why she listened to her mother. To this, Naseem stated that Babita was a Hitler and the girls were extremely scared of her. But it was Kareena who left and started living on her own, but Karisma stayed with her mother. She said:
"Jab maa Hitler ho... (Babita was a Hitler mother). Girls were sh** scared of their mother. Kareena didn't take Babita's dominating attitude. She left and started living on her own. It was Karisma who lived with their mother."
Talking about the prenuptial agreement, Naseem stated that in the document Abhishek had to transfer an amount and Karisma would also be entitled to a certain amount of money if their marriage ended up in a divorce, but for the Bachchans it was shocking, so they broke the engagement. She shared:
"The agreement was that Abhishek had to transfer money before the marriage. Also Karisma would be entitled to a certain amount of money if there was a divorce... But the Bachchans didn't agree to it. So the engagement broke, and she later married businessman Sunjay Kapur."
Earlier, Suneel Darshan also talked about the shocking breakup of Bollywood. He stated that the two had chemistry, which reflected in their film, Haan Maine Pyar Kiya. He added that the couple broke their engagement due to external factors that created the issues and disturbed their relationship.
For the unversed, Karisma and Abhishek got engaged in October 2002, but by January 2003, their families called off the engagement without any explanation. Later, the same year, Karisma got married to Delhi-based businessman Sunjay Kapur. On the other hand, Abhishek Bachchan went on to marry Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in 2007.
Karisma's marriage to Sunjay Kapur ended in an ugly divorce after the birth of her two kids. There was a lot of blame game, and Karisma even alleged that her ex-husband tried to sell her off on her wedding day. After the separation, Karisma and Sunjay continued to co-parent their children. Last year, Karisma was even present at her ex-husband's funeral.
