In a GoFundMe campaign post, Jordan's family revealed that the former NFL player 'took his own life'. Jordan played a total of 44 games across five teams in seven years, including the New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders and one with the Buffalo Bills in 2020, before he retired in 2021.
While he had a glamorous career throughout these 7 years, he had his fair share of struggles. While he was in high school, he had to give up on football, and it was due to a disease. He also had to take odd jobs before he joined the NFL. Jordan's passing left his fans, followers and family with grief that will take them time to overcome. Amid this, let's have a look at his tough early life when he couldn't play but had to sit and watch football games due to his knee condition.
For the unversed, Jordan Devey suffered a painful knee condition named Osgood-Schlatter disease as a kid. Osgood-Schlatter is a debilitating knee condition that occurs due to overstrain and causes a swollen bump on the shinbone, just below the kneecap. Jordan faced the same when he was just in his eighth grade, and he didn't return to football for seven years. This was a tough phase for Jordan, and he had to watch every game from the sidelines. Speaking about this to Telegram back in 2013, Jordan said:
"I went to every football game and sat on the sidelines. Most of my friends were on the football field. They always gave me a hard time trying to get me out there. I wanted to, it was just one of those things where we had the big picture in mind rather than the here and now."
After giving up football for his knee condition, Jordan turned to art to fill the void. He started learning tuba. Jordan became a tuba player and joined a nationally acclaimed marching band at American Fork High School in Utah. According to his instructor, he was just ready to get the feedback and work hard on it, and he had this amazing drive to be the best at whatever he did. Jordan also had to take an odd job, following his music ventures.
Reportedly, he would work a graveyard shift for 12 hours five days per week. The former NFL star then became a representative of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Costa Rica and worked there for two years. After his knee condition was better, he decided to walk on at Snow College in Utah. In 2013, he joined the NFL as an undrafted free agent and then started playing for the New England Patriots.
Jordan Devey was a doting husband to Linsey Devey. The couple got married in 2011, and they have four children. Apart from being an NFL star, Jordan was an amazing father to his kids and a loving husband to his wife. Jordan's wife confirmed the news of her husband's passing recently, and in an emotional post, she revealed his last words to her. According to Linsey, Jordan told her that he would talk to her, soon.
