Drew Barrymore is a renowned actress, producer and talk show host. She is widely known for hosting the popular daytime show, The Drew Barrymore Show. Coming to her personal front, Drew is currently a single mom to her two daughters, Olive and Frankie, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Will Kopelman. During a recent episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Drew got emotional while sharing about her insecurities after motherhood.
During the April 6, 2026, episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Drew got candid about her body insecurities after embracing motherhood. The host was having a conversation with a mother of four who had recently lost 75 pounds. For the unversed, Drew welcomed her first daughter in 2012 and welcomed her second daughter in 2014. She had two C-sections. Drew admitted that she really relates to body transformation, especially after having two children. The host highlighted that, as she had two C-sections, her body had changed in such a way that she couldn’t wear certain outfits. Drew added that once she felt very insecure and didn’t want people to notice her. She was quoted as saying:
"It’s so related. I really did. The other day, I was walking down the street … and I’ve had two C-sections and I’m so wrecked down there that I permanently just … I can’t wear a lot of different types of pants. I had this shorter shirt on, and I couldn’t keep my jacket closed. And I’m walking around and I was [thinking], I don’t want anyone to see this."
In a 2016 interview with Good Housekeeping, Drew opened up about how her childhood shaped the way she parents her own daughters. Drew mentioned that she has been raising her kids with consistency and protection, which was lacking when she herself grew up. She highlighted that she would not allow her daughters to become child actors as she knew how difficult life could be. At the time, Drew’s elder daughter, Olive, was 3, and her younger daughter, Frankie, was 1 year old. During the same interview, Drew admitted that she understood the real meaning of love after embracing motherhood. She credited her daughters, Olive and Frankie, for shaping her to be a better person. She was quoted as saying:
"I'm an overachiever parent. Having grown up in the opposite way, I'm raising my children with all consistency, all protection. This is my chance to get it right. I'd never let them become child actors. In reality, I'll just lead by example by being spirited, classy, consistent, philanthropic, hardworking, loyal to my friends, and there any second they might need me. I thought I knew what love was, but holy cow, I did not.I could never have imagined the kind of love I have for my children. I am who I am because of my daughters."
Drew tied the knot with Will in June 2012. However, after 4 years in 2016, the couple parted ways. The duo now co-parent their two daughters, Olive and Frankie. Reflecting on her divorce from Will, once in an interview with AARP The Magazine, Drew shared that after her separation, her life was heavy, painful and sad. However, she controlled her emotions to look after her two daughters, Olive and Frankie. She was quoted as saying:
"My dream family was falling apart, and I didn’t know how to put one foot in front of the other. I had grown up so fast, but now I didn’t know what age to feel—I just knew that my life was heavy, and painful and sad—and I sat in that for a while. Eventually, thank goodness, I lifted myself out of it. I had two kids, and I had to figure it out."
