Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleDia Mirza is currently facing the brunt of social media users after she recently narrated an incident involving her five-year-old son, Avyaan Azaad Rekhi. Dia Mirza, who is a UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador, recently appeared on Soha Ali Khan's podcast and spoke about climate change and various other aspects.
While discussing climate change and its impact, Dia recalled an incident and shared how her son, Avyaan, schooled a delivery boy who came to their doorstep to deliver a coconut in a plastic bag. Elaborating on the same, she shared:
“The coconut wala delivered the coconut and nothing burns my blood more than coconut water arriving in plastic bags with plastic straws. So this boy, bichara, he didn’t know whom he was delivering. So Avyaan opened the door and he puts his hand on his hips and says, ‘Bhaiya plastic me lekar aaye hai, hamari ghar mein plastic not allowed, aap usko plastic se nikalo, usko neeche rakho aur plastic aur straw leke jao.”
After listening to Dia, the podcast host, Soha heaped praises on Avyaan and supported his conviction, but netizens were not that pleased. They not only slammed Dia but also called Avyaan out for his 'entitled' behaviour. Social media users didn’t agree with Dia and her little boy’s conduct towards the delivery boy.
As soon as the video was uploaded, the actress was slammed with an array of comments on social media. One of the users posted the clip from the podcast and wrote, “Imagine talking so rudely and with such entitlement to someone who’s literally providing you a service in 40-degree centigrade. The entitlement is unreal - it blinds them to basic respect and decency. If you like don’t plastic just go to the thela and buy it yourself and carry it in paper bags.”
Earlier this month, Dia Mirza received severe backlash on social media over her comment linking patriarchy to climate change. Speaking to Soha’s podcast, Dia said, “It's men who have driven climate change, and they are entirely and totally responsible for the chaos that has been unleashed on our world today.” Dia’s remark brought her a lot of criticism, and many questioned the connection between the two.
Dia Mirza was hailed as people’s crush in the early 2000s. Before venturing into films, Dia modelled for brands.
