Former reporter, Christina Chambers, and her husband were found dead in their residence from an alleged murder-suicide. Their 3-year-old son was unharmed.
A shooting recently took place in Hoover, Alabama, that claimed the lives of two people. One of the deceased has been identified as Christina Chambers, a former reporter. A man was also found dead, who is presumed to be her husband, but there is no confirmation about his identity. This tragic death has taken another turn as police now claim that Christin and her husband's death was a murder suicide. In the meantime, here's everything we know about the late reporter and her death.
In the morning of December 16, 2025, a family member alerted 911 that Christina and her husband were unresponsive in their home. The Hoover Police Department stated that the couple had suffered gun wounds and had passed away from the injuries. Medics announced them dead at the scene. Officials also found a toddler of around 3 years old unharmed and alive in their house in Hoover. He is presumed to be the deceased couple's son. Although the investigation is active and in its early stages, officials suspect it to be a murder-suicide. Hence, it means that one of them first pulled the trigger on the other as a homicide, then died by suicide.
Christina had worked with WBRC as a sports reporter. After her tragic demise, the network confirmed the news of their former colleague's passing away. She had also served as a sports reporter for many other local channels. She first stepped into the shoes of a journalist at WLTZ NBC38 in Georgia. Later, she joined Comcast Sports Southeast in Atlanta. In 2015, Christina joined WBRC and stayed with them for nearly six years before quitting in 2021. Her former workplace gave her a tribute with the news presenter stating:
“She was on of the sweetest, most loving people that I know. She was relentless with running, loving her son, and loving life. I am glad I got a chance to hug and tell her I love her a week ago at the Super 7. I am so sorry for her family, the Chambers and Thompson Families, and her WBRC Family."
Christina Chambers was a beloved figure among her community. She served as the film and television advisor for Thompson High School for four years. Under her, the school's student network went through many changes. Christina was also loved by her students. In fact, she was named the Alabama Scholastic Press Association’s Advisor of the Year in 2024 after her students nominated her for it. Along with this, she also continued to work as a freelance sideline reporter.
Apart from being a sports reporter, Christina was quite athletic herself. She was a student athlete at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She also ran many 5ks, marathons, half-marathons, and more all over the globe. Christina had also run in the Boston Marathon three times, and would have participated in the fourth one in 2026. Her last run was at the 2025 Rome Marathon.
It is important to note that this is a developing story, and much more information is being reported as the police actively investigate the case. As Christina has been identified as one of the deceased, official information on her husband's idenity is still awaited.
After WBRC posted a confirmation on their social media page on Christina's passing, it was filled with condolence comments. One netizen wrote, "She touched so many lives in her career at Fox & most definitely at Thompson High School." Another penned, "The worst news to hear. Absolutely devastated for her family, friends, and the @wbrc crew…she was such a joy and will be missed immensely." A third Insta user stated, "Absolutely broken-hearted over this news. She and her entire family are wonderful people. Even more heartbroken for her son." A fourth said, "Prayers for her family and that sweet baby."
May the departed souls rest in peace.
