For the unversed, Bruno allegedly threw shade at Taylor Swift by liking a post that called the latter 'talentless'. On his professional front, Bruno is preparing for a world tour to promote his new album. According to the latest reports, the world tour will kick off on April 10, 2026. Amid this, Bruno set the record straight on the recent controversy involving him and global sensation, Taylor Swift.
Taking to his X (former Twitter) handle, Bruno Mars broke the silence over the 'accidental' like on a tweet which called global sensation, Taylor Swift, 'talentless.' He wrote a note expressing his love for the pop icon. As per reports, the incident happened after Bruno replaced Taylor at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. His single, I Just Might reached the top spot in January 2026, ending her 15-week-long run with the song, The Fate of Ophelia from her album, The Life of a Showgirl. Bruno’s tweet can be read as:
"Taylor has always been supportive and kind to me. Only love over here."
According to a report by Pop Faction, on March 13, 2026, Bruno stirred the controversy after he appeared to like a tweet slamming Taylor Swift and calling her 'talentless'. The tweet featured Taylor while she performed onstage during the Eras tour. The post was captioned as:
"Genuinely, how did she get famous? White privilege is crazy because imagine if an Asian was as talentless as her."
Soon after Bruno shared the clarification post on his X handle, netizens flooded the comment section. A user commented, "Spread love when you actually did the opposite by liking that reel." Another user wrote, "Address why you liked the video, then? Doesn’t seem like an accident." Another user penned, "Why are you not condemning the post and the account that you liked that post of? That same account wished her death in the post right before the one you liked on top of posts full of hate towards other female artists."
Slamming Bruno, a user wrote, "The issue isn’t your personal experience with her, it’s engaging with a comment attacking her. But I guess accountability was never the point when it comes to you." Another user, "You could’ve explained if the reel you liked was an accident, etc but instead you chose to ignore it completely and backtrack." While many users slammed Bruno Mars for liking the tweet calling Taylor Swift, a few social media users came to his support.
Defending Bruno’s action, a user wrote, "You're free to like or dislike anyone. Impossible to measure the broad talent in every category you own with genuine skill! Compared to TS, who can't hold a perfect vocal tone or write substance lyrics, while being a terrible dancer. Pure luck performer-Objective truth. You're blessed." Another supporter penned, "Bruno, you’re so supportive of your peers, and I don’t think you’ll ever mean anything hateful to anyone." Another fan wrote, "Love the fact you’ve addressed this head-on and tried to squash this propaganda. Love you, Bruno!"
