On the other hand, her boyfriend, Chance Allison, fought the reptile to save his girlfriend's life in the Econlockhatchee River at Little Big Econ State Forest. Brittany died upon reaching the hospital due to the excessive blood loss. The father recalled that Brittany's roommate, Jayden, who told him what happened to his daughter. And they were doing their best to keep her alive. He said:
"I received a call on Sunday from Brittany’s roommate Jayden and she was explaining as it was happening. They were trying to keep her alive and waiting for the authorities to show up."
Brittany's father served in the US Navy and is a semi-retired motorcycle technician. The family was already dealing with the death of his mother Barbara, and now his daughter died in the most gruesome way.
Brittany's friend, Jayden, revealed in a tribute post that they had been joking about an alligator just seconds before the attack. She revealed that there were air bubbles formed within the little triangle they made with their bodies, and they commented on how it might be a sneaky alligator waiting for them. She wrote:
"There were air bubbles within our little triangle we made with our bodies in the water and I commented on how it might be a sneaky gator and Chance, Brittany’s boyfriend, swam right over it to show nothing was there and nothing was there."
The friend revealed how, within a few minutes, Brittany was attacked by a 13-foot alligator, who bit her arms, and it was horrific. She revealed that her boyfriend fought with his whole might in order to pull her away from the alligator. The friend revealed that Brittany was aware, and she was yelling at her boyfriend about what to do.
After learning about the case, netizens shared their thoughts. One user wrote, "I can't imagine how helpless she must've felt. I can't think how horrendous it must have been for the boyfriend to do CPR on your partner's lifeless body." Another one commented, "I grew up here in Florida, and we swam in our neighbourhood lake all the time. Occasionally we knew about the presence of an alligator residing in the lake, but it was somewhat rare. It didn’t stop us from swimming either. Maybe the 90s were just a different time, and we were all really stupid. Yeah, that’s probably it…"
Another one commented, "This is really sad. Alligators don’t go after healthy adults typically, and it’s easy to let your guard down even knowing they are potentially in basically every lake and river. And that the bf tried his best to save her… my condolences to him and her family. Makes me think of where I live now; a few hikers get killed by bison every year."
