Actor Billy Baldwin and Chynna Phillips are getting candid about their marriage struggles while admitting that they are 'living separately but adjacent.'

The duo recently opened up about their relationship, including their marriage issues. For those unaware, they surprised fans by candidly revealing they have been living in separate homes.
Chynna Phillips and Billy Baldwin got married in 1995. They share three children together. Their daughter, Jameson, was born in 2000. Chynna and Billy's second child, a son named Vance, was born in 2001. They welcomed their third child, a daughter named Brooke, in 2004.
Now nearly three decades since they tied the knot, the couple are not shying away from openly speaking about the issues they are facing in their marriage. They revealed that they are struggling with communication problems when it comes to their love languages. In the latest video posted on Chynna and Billy’s new YouTube channel on November 7, 2026, the latter said:
“We went to therapy years ago, and [our therapist] called it ‘the One Thing.’ He’s like, ‘How are you not being fed? What are you not getting in a relationship? I want one thing. You give Chynna what she needs, you give Billy what he’s asking for. You don’t even have to be particularly good at it; you just have to try.’”
Billy claimed that even though what their therapist suggested sounded simple, in reality it was pretty difficult. He said that it was not only ‘challenging’ to do that consistently, but things become harder when you have been together for 30 years. But Billy believes that giving what the other person is asking for is also pretty important.
While addressing the viewers, Billy said that just doing it with your children and with your partner could make one's relationship more stable and better. Billy and Chynna then admitted that their struggle to communicate properly has put considerable strain on their marriage. Referring to the singer and actress, Billy said:
“She’s a California girl, hippie chick, who is very laid back... I’m not. I’m a New Yorker. So the way I was raised and the way I communicate can be defined by her [as] intense [and] urgent.”
Meanwhile, Chynna claimed that she would actually love to see her husband let go just a little more in his life. But even though she wants him to let go of his strains and stresses, Billy admitted that it is hard.
In the same YouTube video, Billy said that he thinks God played a ‘cruel language’ where he wired women to want emotional intimacy, which eventually leads to physical intimacy. He added:
“I act that way emotionally towards my wife, and I give her exactly everything she wants for, like, 48 hours after we’ve been together physically. So I think I want the physical intimacy that leads to the emotional intimacy that she’s looking for.”
Previously, when Billy and Chynna teased their new YouTube channel series called Holding On, the couple confessed via a joint Instagram post that they are living “in separate houses.” In a confessional-style video, Billy revealed what he thought was the problem. He said that sometimes the way he communicates causes Chynna to have a nervous breakdown. On the other hand, he said that Chynna tries to control and manipulate during their conversations.
In another joint post on Instagram that the couple shared on November 7, 2026, Chynna Phillips said that she “never imagined” she and Billy would be in the situation that they are currently in. Explaining how they are living separately, she said, “We’re living separately, but adjacent. It’s super confusing and yes … complicated.”
