Re-releasing worldwide on September 25, 2026, the enhanced version adds new footage and a special bridge to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
Directed by the Russo brothers, the film brings back Earth's mightiest heroes for one last stand against ‘Thanos,’ now with upgraded visuals and an exclusive end tag for IMAX and Infinity Vision audiences. The Infinity Saga is coming back to theatres, and not just for nostalgia. Reports suggest the Encore version has a lot more to offer. According to popular insider @MyTimeToShineHello, who has a solid history with Marvel leaks, this re-release will feature a pair of after-credits sequences.
Marvel hasn't confirmed it yet, but the source makes it worth watching. Before the credits of Avengers: Endgame Encore even roll, the finale itself is said to be different. ‘Steve Rogers’ reportedly gets a visit from ‘Loki.’ Sources clarify this isn't a tag, as it's woven into the actual ending.
The buzz is that ‘Loki’ learned the TVA was about to erase ‘Steve's’ branch and pulled ‘Steve’ and his family into a hidden reality off the books. That jump may have had consequences, possibly linked to the tragedy that destroyed ‘Doctor Doom's’ family and left him disfigured.
Then the tags kick in. The opening stinger reportedly focuses on the TVA as entire timelines blink out. By the start of Doomsday, only three earths, including 616, 828, and 10005, and all of them are said to be left standing, the final defense against complete breakdown.
The second stinger shifts to ‘Doom’ himself, seen bringing ‘Hulk’ into his fold. It's not clear if it's ‘Banner’ or a Variant, and what their deal is remains a mystery.
The Russo brothers sold the autumn comeback of Endgame as more than a re-issue, as they said that it would build a bridge straight to Doomsday. But anyone expecting a pile of new scenes that flips the MCU on its head might be a little disappointed.
Despite reports claiming it as a key companion chapter and a proper launchpad for Doomsday, Encore is actually adding very little. The 2019 original clocked in at 180 minutes 57 seconds. The new listing from the British Board of Film Classification puts the re-release at 183 minutes 3 seconds, just about two minutes longer.
Infinity Vision is getting a slightly extended version. A second BBFC entry lists it at 186 minutes 14 seconds. Whether that added time is genuine story setup for Doomsday or just a making-of extra is still not clear. Disney had mentioned at CineEurope in Barcelona that the comeback would include a custom opening, some new footage, and a post-credits tag exclusive to IMAX and Infinity Vision screenings.
For the unversed, Endgame picks up after ‘Thanos’ wipes out half of all life. The remaining Avengers travel through time to collect the Infinity Stones and reverse the Snap, leading to a final battle against ‘Thanos.’ The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, and Josh Brolin as 'Thanos.'
