Mrunal Thakur and Dhanush are currently hogging the limelight after reports claimed that the duo is allegedly tying the knot on February 14, 2026, on the occasion of Valentine’s Day. However, a source close to the Hi Nanna actress dismissed the rumour. The duo’s alleged romance made headlines earlier in 2025. Later, in an interview, Mrunal quashed the dating rumours. Now that the alleged couple is once again the talk of the town, let’s find out the age gap between Dhanush and his ex-wife, Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth.
According to a report by The Times of India, Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth was 23 years old, and Dhanush was 21 years old when they got married. For the unversed, the couple tied the knot in 2004. If the report is believed to be true, then the former couple shared an age gap of two years.
According to reports, Dhanush was born on July 28, 1983. The pan-India actor is currently 42 years old. Meanwhile, Mrunal Thakur is currently 33 years old. She was born on August 1, 1992. If the reports are believed to be true, then the alleged couple share an age gap of nine years.
Several reports claimed that Dhanush and Mrunal are all set to take the next step in their alleged relationship. The reports also claimed that the wedding will allegedly take place on February 14, 2026. However, a source close to Mrunal spoke to Hindustan Times and dismissed the rumour. The source was quoted as saying:
"Mrunal is not getting married next month. This is a rumour that has caught wind. She has a release scheduled for February, why would she get married in such close proximity to her film release? And then in March, she has another film's release in Telugu in March."
According to an August 2025 Only Kollywood report, Mrunal broke her silence on her dating rumours during a media interaction. She called Dhanush just a good friend of hers. Mrunal mentioned that she found the reports 'funny' linking them together. In fact, there were several speculations around Dhanush attending Son of Sardaar 2 premiere, starring Mrunal and Ajay Devgn. Mrunal cleared the air on the following as well. She was quoted as saying:
"Dhanush is just a good friend to me. I’m aware that a lot of news has been circulating about the two of us being linked together recently. I just found it funny when I saw it. Dhanush attended the Son of Sardaar 2 event. No one should misunderstand that. It was Ajay Devgn who invited him."
The love story of former couple, Dhanush and Aishwaryaa began in 2003, when the latter watched the former’s film, Kadhal Konden and appreciated it by sending flowers to him. In 2004, the duo got married. Their wedding was grand and held in Chennai. Aishwaryaa is the eldest daughter of superstar, Rajinikanth and Dhanush is the son of director, Kasthuri Raja. However, after 18 years of marriage, the couple parted ways. They share two children, Yatra and Linga.
During a media interaction, Aishwaryaa revealed that her family was very conservative and thus her marriage to Dhanush happened in a hurry. Later, Dhanush shared a statement following his divorce from Rajinikanth’s daughter in 2024. His statement can be read as:
"18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, parents and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting, and adapting. Today we stand at a place where our paths separate. Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better. Please do respect our decision and give us the needed privacy to deal with this."
