Alexandria has been wanting to freeze her eggs since the age of 31

Egg-freezing has been a boon for women working hard in a man's world. Alexandria was no different, but she wanted one thing: to have kids in the future. So, she thought about freezing her eggs at 31. An old interview with Alexandria revealed that she wanted to pursue the process but feared the huge bill.

The then-31-year-old political leader was contemplating her reproductive future. She was worried about whether she could afford to freeze her eggs. The same year, she welcomed a French bulldog into her life named Deco, with her ex-fiance, Riley Roberts. She was quoted as saying:

"I’m sitting here, I’m like, Do I freeze my eggs? Can I afford to do that? My orthodontist was telling me about how she was doing IVF, and I’m, like, asking her what her experience is like."

Alexandria revealed that it was important for her to talk about these things. She has been the youngest congresswoman in history serving in a political body, which is populated with older men. She stated that these are the important choices that women have to make, but not men.

After six years of contemplating her decision to freeze her eggs, the fifth-term Congresswoman finally went with her heart's calling. She made the choice to opt for the expensive procedure to be in more control of her life. She has saved for many years to afford the cost, which she estimated to be around USD 8,000 to USD 9,000.

Netizens were quick to share their thoughts when Alexandria documented her egg-freezing journey. One user on Reddit wrote, "I have been loving it. It makes me feel less alone to see this impressive, powerful woman doing this really hard thing I recently went through. She is explaining so much of the science and really getting into the details in a way that can only help people learn."

Another user commented, "I love it. Being close to her in age, it feels like solidarity. When she started, I hoped she kept it educational and scientific, not personal. I respect her for doing this publicly while keeping the private aspects (i.e., her results) private. Also mad respect for her for doing this with her unbelievable schedule and after her net worth was just published. One of us."

A third user also penned, "I am SO appreciative of her sharing her journey!!! It’s giving me a realistic view of what I may be signing up for, and honestly has been very eye-opening."

During a video on Instagram, Alexandria revealed that she doesn't own a house, but she has saved up to preserve her fertility. She stated that she has been lucky to have been able to do it. Elaborating on it, she shared:

“For me, one of the trade-offs that I have made is that I don’t own a house. I saved up to preserve my fertility. And I am lucky to have even been able to do that. For some people and for a lot of places, it can be USD 15,000 to pursue something like this all in. And you have to ask yourself: is it worth it? And that is not the same answer for every person, especially since this is not a guarantee. It also depends on your body. Financially, this is a huge deal.”
