During the premiere episode of Lock Upp 2, Akanksha revealed that she and Gaurav are getting a divorce. The couple got married in November 2016 and decided to part ways after nearly ten years of marriage. Amid this, Akanksha’s strong reaction to her co-contestant and popular actor, Ram Kapoor’s cheating remark stole the spotlight.
During a recent episode of Lock Upp 2, the Bade Achhe Lagte Hain actor said a person has highs and lows in their life. And during that bad phase, if someone cheats by mistake, it is not a deal breaker. He also stated that time heals everything. In his words:
"You have highs and lows, good times and bad times. Agar in that bad phase galti se kisi ek se kuch ho jaye, agar aap unke bina, apke bachho ke bina nahi reh sakte, aur bachho ke family best chahiye, then time heals everything. Nothing is a deal breaker."
However, Akanksha Chamola strongly reacted to Ram’s cheating remark and said, "But sir galti se nahi hoti ye cheez." In response, Ram said that it might happen sometimes. Explaining her point of view, Akanksha Chamola said that, "Galti se nahi hoti. Ap kisi se physically intimate ho rahe ho kisi se, woh ek process hai. You have to take somebody’s clothes off and take your clothes off and do it and finish it off. You cannot say ki galti se. Aisa nahi ki mein chaku rakha aur galti se maar diya."
Soon after the clip featuring Akanksha and Ram’s heated conversation over cheating on the show, Lock Upp 2 surfaced online, netizens flooded the comment section. A user wrote, "I am with her. She is absolutely right." Lauding Akanksha, a user commented, "One Akanksha gives men a reality check, the other gives them a shoulder to lean on. Choose your Akanksha wisely." A third user penned, "She took the right stand, Cheating is always a choice, not an option."
Slamming Ram, a user wrote, "What exactly he meant by 'galti se'. Bro, you can break a glass by mistake but can't break someone’s heart and trust by mistake. Cheating on your partner is a choice that you made yourself, not by mistake." Another user commented, "Put a woman in his case & then see the outrage. Imagine your wife cheating and telling you, 'galti se ho jata hai hubby, time heals everything. It's okayy.'" Another comment can be read as:
"When a man does it, it's a galti, and we need to sympathise with the poor guy for the sake of his family. But only when a man does it. Bechara mard. Men will be men. But when a woman does it."
A user claimed that cheating might be the reason behind Akanksha and Gaurav's split and wrote, "Akanksha ko cheat kiya gaya hai, that's why wo us shaadhi se nikal rahi hai aur Gaurav Khanna ek actor hai, means bohat achcha actor usko pata hai media me kya dikhana hai, kaha kya dikhana hai taki image kharab na ho." However, neither the author nor BollywoodShaadis could verify this claim. Another comment can be read as:
"You can't cheat by mistake? She's right. Being physical with someone is a whole process. If you did it, it was not unintentional at all because you knew what you were doing and if he kept doing it for like 10, 11 months? Then what. You'll still say it was by mistake?"
