Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleAjay Devgn's Drishyam: The Conclusion has been making headlines since the film's trailer was released on September 9, 2026. With less than a month until the film's release, fans are now curious to know what will happen in the final chapter. Amid the buzz, Ajay Devgn has revealed that the Hindi film will be completely different from Mohanlal's version of Drishyam 3. So, without any further ado, let's take a look at how the two films will be different.
Ajay Devgn is all set to return as 'Vijay Salgaonkar'. The Hindi film was introduced to the audience as an adaptation of Mohanlal's Drishyam. However, the Singham actor has now revealed that the final chapter won't be the same as its Malayalam counterpart. For the unversed, in the Hindi version of the film, 'Vijay' is a cable operator in Goa who lives a peaceful life with his wife 'Nandini' and their two daughters. However, his world turns upside down when a teenage boy goes missing, and his family becomes the prime suspect in the case.
The trailer for Drishyam: The Conclusion picks up from where Drishyam 2 left off. However, it won't be taking the same path as Mohanlal's version. Ajay Devgn revealed that the conclusion is a completely different script, and they made several changes to distinguish it from the Malayalam version. He was quoted as saying:
"We all thought that this should be the conclusion because I don't think we should even attempt to go beyond this. Because everything, if you leave it at the top, that's the best thing. The second film was, in a way, inspired by the original (Malayalam), but this is a completely different script. Their 'Drishyam 3' is completely different, and our film is also completely different. It's not like we have made a lot of changes; it's an entirely different story."
Ajay Devgn further stated that they didn't know whether the third part could be made. However, director Abhishek Pathak eventually came up with an idea that appealed to the team and then spent two-and-a-half years working on the screenplay with the writers. Ajay further commended Abhishek for the growth he has made over the years and said he has done an impeccable job writing the final chapter.
While Ajay Devgn didn't share the details of how Drishyam 3 will be different from Mohanlal's version, the actor's revelation about it being a new script has left the audience excited. The second part of the film series had left the audience on the edge of their seats, and now, with the conclusion, their expectations are already sky-high. He was quoted as saying:
"It has twists and turns. He worked very hard and came out with a script. I think Abhishek and Aamil (Keeyan Khant) have done a brilliant job. The way he's worked the script out, the way he's shaped up the film… As he said, he's grown on 'Drishyam'. You will see in this film that he's really grown on 'Drishyam'. And just on the writing part, the way he's executed the film, I think he's done a fabulous job."
Mohanlal's Drishyam has been a fan-favourite ever since the film was first released. And Ajay Devgn had some big shoes to fill when he was selected for the Hindi adaptation. Now, with the conclusion less than a month away from its release, the actor expressed his desire for Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph, who collaborated on the original franchise, to watch and approve of the Hindi film.
The third film picks up from where Drishyam 2 ended, with 'Vijay Salgaonkar' and his family facing renewed pressure as old secrets and unanswered questions threaten to resurface. However, this time, looming over their heads is a formidable new adversary in Jaideep Ahlawat's 'SP Crime Branch Rajveer Singh Tomar', who takes charge of the seemingly impossible case and is determined to uncover the truth. As shown in the trailer, the story is no longer about justice, but about a mother's revenge.
Ajay Devgn has also reflected on putting 'Vijay Salgaonkar' to rest with the final chapter and revealed that he is happy to do so. He revealed that while he doesn't want to sound heartless, he is happy about the project coming to an end. He admitted that he is the happiest when a project is completed, and he feels the most satisfied when he is done. He added:
"People congratulate me when I start a project, but I feel that when it gets over and is successfully completed, then that is the time you should be the happiest person. Fingers crossed, if the film does well, then it will be good. But the journey has been great."
Jaideep Ahlawat joined Drishyam after Akshaye Khanna, who played 'IGP Tarun Ahlawat', made an abrupt exit from the third part in January 2026. He reflected on joining the team for the conclusion and revealed that he never felt like he wasn't a part of the film. He even clarified that he is not taking Akshaye's role, but rather boarding the film as a new character.
Besides Jaideep Ahlawat, Prakash Raj also joins the franchise, while Tabu, Shriya Saran and Rajat Kapoor return as their respective characters. Kamlesh Sawant, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav also reprise their roles.
