Meet Simala Prasad, Who Is An IPS Officer, Part-Time Actress, Cleared UPSC On Her First Attempt

UPSC is hands-down the toughest exam in India, as its success rate is around 0.1% to 0.3%. In recent years, we have seen a lot of movies and web series being made around UPSC and its aspirants. However, it's fair to say that the Bollywood movie, 12th Fail and TVF's web series, Aspirants and Sandeep Bhaiya are the ones who have managed to portray the right emotions and struggles of an UPSC aspirant.

Not just in films, but over the years, we have seen a series of aspirants cracking UPSC to become IAS and IPS Officers despite being entangled in poverty. Apart from the financial constraint, we have seen many people leave their successful careers in different fields to enter civil services. Today, we will talk about one such civil servant who took a break from her successful acting career to become an IPS Officer and is now working as a part-time actress.

Meet IPS Officer, Simala Prasad, who is the daughter of an IAS Officer and renowned author

The famous IPS Officer, Simala Prasad is the daughter of renowned IAS Officer, Bhagirath Prasad and renowned author, Mehrunnisa Parvez. For the unversed, Simala Prasad's father also served as the vice-chancellor of two recognised universities in Madhya Pradesh. Not only this, Bhagirath Prasad represented the MP's Bhind Parliamentary constituency as an MP (Member of Parliament) for five years from 2014 to 2019.

On one side, while Simala Prasad's father, Bhagirath Prasad is a recognised name in Madhya Pradesh, her mother, Mehrunnisa Parvez is also a famous Indian author. Mehrunnisa has penned books like Pasang, Amma, Meri Bastar Ki Kahaniyan, Samara, Dhahta qutubminar, and Ayodhya se Vapsi. It was back in 2005 when Simala's mother, Mehrunnisa was bestowed with the prestigious Padma Shri Award for her incredible contribution to Indian literature.

According to a report in Zee News, IPS Officer, Simala Prasad is currently working as the SP in Madhya Pradesh's Betul district. Simala Prasad was born in October 1980 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. After completing her schooling at St Joseph Co-ed School, she took admission in Bhopal's prestigious Barkatullah University. Simala completed her B.Com degree and post-graduation in Sociology from there.

Simala Prasad cracked the UPSC exams on her first attempt without coaching

After the completion of her college degrees, Simala Prasad appeared in the MP PSC exam, cleared it with ease and was posted as a DSP. Once she started working as a DSP, she decided to prepare for the USPC exam in order to become an IPS Officer.

Surprisingly, Simala Prasad cracked UPSC on her first attempt and that too even without any coaching. According to a report in DNA, Simala is an IPS Officer of the 2010 batch who is currently posted in Madhya Pradesh.

IPS Officer, Simala Prasad's entry to Bollywood with two films, Alif and Nakkash

Right from an early age, Simala Prasad was into creative and cultural activities. Just like every youngster, she was also interested in dancing and acting in school plays. However, things got a bit serious when she was in college, as she thought of exploring acting and dancing a bit more.

However, due to her professional commitments after becoming an IPS Officer, Simala Prasad was unable to follow her passion for acting. But she kept on participating in government-related cultural events, where she used to showcase her dancing skills.

However, after a lot of waiting, it was in 2016 when filmmaker, Zaigham Imam cast IPS Officer, Simala Prasad in his film, Alif. The young actress received a lot of praise for her character in the film.

After Alif, Simala Prasad again worked with Zaigham in the film, Nakkash, which was released in 2019. The movie featured a series of renwoned Bollywood actors like Kumud Mishra, Sharib Hashmi, and Rajesh Sharma.

However, since 2019, we haven't seen Simala Prasad in a film, but she is quite active on social media, as every now and then, she lets people know what's happening in her life with the help of pictures. Currently, Simala Prasad has a massive fanbase of 11.4K followers on Instagram.

The way Simala Prasad is working as an IPS Officer and also keeping her dream of acting in films alive is indeed an inspiration for so many people, and it shows that anything is possible if you're extremely passionate about it.
