Gayatri Joshi is one of the most beautiful actresses of her time. She is one of the few actresses, who swooned millions of hearts with her debut film, Swades. However, after the film's release, although she left everyone bamboozled with her acting chops, she decided to step away from the film industry and focus on her personal life. Recently, she and her husband, Vikas Oberoi met a fatal car accident, which left an elderly couple dead.
As per reports, Gayatri Joshi and her husband, Vikas Oberoi, were travelling in Italy when they met in an accident. It was a multiple-vehicle collision, including Gayatri's car and other vehicles, including a mini-truck, a Lamborghini and a Ferrari. The collision occurred when the Lamborghini and Ferrari attempted to overtake the mini-truck simultaneously, leading to the latter's overturning. The tragic incident occurred during the Sardinia Supercar Tour, as part of which luxury cars parade from Teulada to Olbia.

This tragic incident left a senior Swiss couple travelling in the Ferrari dead when the vehicle caught fire. On the other hand, Gayatri confirmed to Free Press Journal that she and Vikas were absolutely fine. Gayatri said to the portal:
“Vikas and I are in Italy. We met with an accident here.. With gods grace, we both are absolutely fine.”

After completing her education, Gayatri Joshi kick-started her career by working as a video jockey for Channel V. Afterwards, she pursued her dream of becoming a professional model. She participated in the 1999 Femina Miss India beauty pageant and ended up in the top 5. Later, she won the 2000 Femina Miss India International. After winning the beauty pageant, Gayatri started getting a lot of brand endorsements. Moreover, when she modelled for the Calender and Seasons Catalogue in 2001, Gayatri was noticed by iconic filmmaker, Ashutosh Gowarikar, who cast her in his film, Swades, opposite Shah Rukh Khan. The film was a commercial failure but is still considered a cult classic.
Despite winning quite a few awards for her debut film, Gayatri left her acting career and tied the knot with businessman, Vikas Oberoi in 2005. The couple is blessed with two sons, Vihaan and Yuva.
