Actress-turned-politician, Smriti Irani is one of the most famous faces of the television industry. The actress has always been hailed as an inspiration for many. Smriti started her acting career with the TV series, Aatish and Hum Hain Kal Aaj Aur Kal. Her iconic role as Tulsi Virani in the show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi brought her immense fame and success. However, for the unversed, Smirti tied the knot with Zubin Irani in 2001. The duo are the proud parents of their two children, Zohr and Zoish. Smriti is also the mother of her husband, Zubin's daughter, from his first marriage. However, in a recent conversation, Smriti Irani talked about motherhood and shared how being a mother affects her emotionally.
In a recent podcast with YouTuber, Ranveer Allahbadia, Smriti Irani talked about her emotions as a mother. Talking about the same, the talented artist shared that as she is a kid from a broken family, her greatest learning from this is that she wants her kids to know that she will fight death to protect them. She also shared that it is really the best feeling for a kid to know that his/her parent will watch out and fight the world for them. Smriti shared:
"I am a kid from a broken home. My greatest learning or take away from that was, I want my kids to know that I will fight death to protect them. I think that’s the best feeling a kid can have, that you have a parent who will watch out, fight the world. As a mother, the one blessing God has given me that if my kids walk away from me, it’s fine because they must have been through too much for me to ask them. I can fight for them and I can let them go...I can love my kids to death and not sit on their heads 24*7. Give them that space and give myself that space.”

In the same interview, Smriti recalled when she didn't have money to pay the home loan just after she married Zubin. The actress mentioned that during that time, she didn't even have Rs. 20-30 thousand in her bank account and borrowed Rs. 25-27 lakh from a bank. Smriti stated that she could scrape by to make the down payment for the house.
Further in the interview, Smriti revealed that she once rejected a pan masala ad despite the payment being ten times the amount that she owed the bank back then. The actor-turned-politician then revealed the reason behind the same. Revealing why she rejected the pan masala ad, the actress stated that there had been conscientious decisions about her media journey because she knew that several families and kids would be watching. Elaborating more on the same, Smriti Irani shared:
"I knew that there were families watching, youngsters watching, and I was like can you imagine there is somebody making them feel that you are a part of the family and you’re suddenly selling pan masala. So I said no conscientiously. I said no to all those waters, flavoured waters sold by alcohol companies. There have been conscientious decisions about my media journey and that was because I knew kids were watching."

In another interview with Neelesh Misra, Smriti Irani talked about her parents' divorce. Talking about the most emotional phase of her life, Smriti shared that it took her 40 years to say that her parents got separated as they were looked down upon back then. Revealing the past hard days, the politician added:
"It took me 40 years to say that my parents got separated. In those days, we were looked down upon, but now I know how tough it was for them to figure out life with just Rs 100 in their pocket and take care of all of us. My dad used to sell books outside an Army club. I used to sit with him, and my mother sold spices going to different homes. My dad didn't study much, while my mother graduated so those conflicts could have also been there."
