Salaar Vs Dunki: How Hombale Films And Shah Rukh Khan's 2018 Clash Commenced Their Alleged Rivalry

Shah Rukh Khan is hands-down the Badshah of Bollywood, and in 2023, he once again proved the mettle of his acting chops, stardom, and massive fanbase across the world. With two blockbuster films, Pathaan and Jawan, Shah Rukh broke numerous box-office records as both of them crossed the unthinkable Rs. 1000 crore mark. While with Pathaan, he entered into the spy universe that also features Salman Khan’s ‘Tiger’, SRK’s Jawan was his love letter to his massive fanbase in the South.

The buzz around Rajkumar Hirani and Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki

After the success of his two back-to-back masala films, Shah Rukh Khan is all set to remind people about his versatility with his work in Dunki. The superstar has joined hands with Rajkumar Hirani, who is known for his incredible storytelling in blockbuster films like Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., Lage Raho Munna Bhai, 3 Idiots, PK, and Sanju. Rajkumar Hirani has won three National Film Awards so far as a director.

Over the years, Rajkumar Hirani has brought some of the most unpredictable scripts in Indian cinema to the big screen. Thus, to see Shah Rukh Khan working with him in Dunki, which is reportedly based on the condition of illegal immigrants in the US and Canada, it is definitely going to be a roller coaster ride of emotions for the viewers.

The people who have been waiting for years to see the serious side of Shah Rukh as an actor, the ones they saw in films like Swades, Chak De! India, My Name Is Khan and many more are anxiously waiting for Dunki. After achieving huge success with commercial films, Shah Rukh would also be hoping to hit the bullseye with a concept-based film.

Despite 3 flops in a row, Prabhas is all set for a ceasefire with Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire

The last three films of South Indian actor, Prabhas have bombed at the box office and raised many eyebrows on his acting career. Although all three films, Saaho, Radhe Shyam and Adipurush were high-budget films, but each one of them lacked so many essential elements needed to make a film successful. However, what is interesting is the fact that no amount of flops have managed to put a slight crack on the actor’s fandom.

Prabhas still has three mega films, Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire, Kalki 2898 AD, and Raja Deluxe, in the pipeline, which speaks volumes about the faith his fandom and filmmakers have in him. Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire is one of the most anticipated films of the year 2023. As per multiple reports, it is going to be related to the K.G.F. universe. The film’s director, Prashanth Neel is quite optimistic about his film, and the teaser has already set the stage for the film’s release.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki will clash with Prabhas’ Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire at the box office.

On September 26, 2023, famous film critic and trade analyst, Taran Adarsh took to his Instagram handle and confirmed that Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki and Prabhas’ Salaar are all set to lock horns at the box office. Both films will hit theatres on December 22, 2023, and while trade analysts are calling it a wrong move by the producers of both films, the audiences are all hyped for the much-awaited clash.

Many trade analysts are predicting that Prabhas’ Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire would probably beat Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki at the domestic box office. But when it comes to overseas, Salaar will find it extremely difficult to deal with the collection of Dunki, and the reason behind it is the magnum star power of Shah Rukh Khan. However, it’s quite difficult to rule out Shah Rukh at the domestic box office as his last two films have performed exceptionally well.

When Hombale Films’ K.G.F: Chapter 1 clashed with Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero

If you think that it is just a casual clash, it’s not. Hombale Films is the production company which is behind Salaar and reportedly has an alleged rivalry with Shah Rukh Khan. For the unversed, back in 2018, Shah Rukh’s Zero clashed with Yash’s K.G.F: Chapter 1 and the latter won at the domestic box office. However, despite Zero being a flop in India, it still managed to beat K.G.F: Chapter 1 in overseas collection.

Talking about the result considering the Hindi-speaking audience, Shah Rukh’s film, Zero concluded its run at the mark of Rs. 97.50 crores at domestic gross collection and KGF: Chapter 1 only managed to achieve the Rs. 43.93 crore mark. Although Zero was a flop and K.G.F. was a hit, but the clash really hammered the collections of K.G.F., which could’ve earned far more if Shah Rukh’s Zero had shifted their release dates.

Who will win the clash between Dunki and Salaar?

As per multiple reports, what Zero did to K.G.F. back in 2018, Hombale Films are trying to replicate the same with Salaar. The massive fanbase of Shah Rukh is quite confident about Dunki’s story and Shah Rukh’s presence overseas, which could hammer Salaar quite badly. While there are enough bets on Shah Rukh, it would be a foolish thing to discount a star like Prabhas, who is still charging a mammoth fee despite giving three back-to-back flops. Thus, it’s going to be complete madness at the box office on December 22, 2023.
